Fortnite has many updates in its development pipeline, and one of them includes a Heavy Pistol. The full layout of estimated dates is available in Epic’s latest Save The World Development Update.

For those who haven’t read it yet, here’s a quick recap of the important dates and features.

  • Feb. 19 : Universal Inventory menu goes live. Prepare your Save The World loadouts before you spawn into the map. It will be instantly accessible in the Armory tab when it’s ready.
  • Feb. 21 [Patch 3.0.0] : Adds Spring It On event questline, new event store items, crafting in the universal inventory, orchestral music overhaul, Ninja Hero, four Lunar Heroes with gender swaps and a Bald Eagle Heavy Pistol.
  • Feb. 28 [Patch 3.1.0] : Stamina rework part one, quest map tweaks, new questline, new event store items, a Super Shielder enemy and a Legendary Melee Defender.
  • March 7 [Patch 3.2.0] : More event content, new Lunar Heroes, a new Lunar Outlander and PC voice chat.

Obviously, not everything listed here will be interesting to the legions of free Fortnite Battle Royale players, but one thing that should catch all eyes are the mentions of a Bald Eagle Heavy Pistol. That weapon hasn’t been talked about yet, but we know it’s planned to make its debut on Feb. 21. That weapon could be exclusive to Save The World, given the PvE focus of this calendar, but there’s obviously lots of cross pollination between the two experiences. There are, for example, two seperate versions of the new Crossbow in both modes.

Beyond that, the stamina rework is also something players of all Fortnite modes should pay attention to. Backers have long been dissatisfied with the way abilities are linked to momentum, and Epic has been working for several weeks to right that wrong. We’ve known for a while that the rework was going to roll out in phases, but it’s still unclear as to what those phases actually are.

These major changes are augmented by the standard expansion of Heroes and events as they pertain to Save The World. Fortnite’s most recent update introduced Lunar New Year Heroes with plenty of unique ability kits. While the latest gameplay options may not have gained much favor in the community right now, the hope is that all frustrations are addressed in the coming weeks. This schedule is subject to change just like any early-access scenario, but hopefully this outline offers some condolence to those paying customers who didn’t feel loved during the week of Valentine’s Day.

Fortnite is in early access across PS4, Xbox One and PC.
