Five Nights At Freddy’s: Sister Location is the next big game from Scott Cawthon, and there’s no denying this man loves trolling his passionate fans. In a new Steam Community post, he delayed the title and then gave his devotees a hilarious demo surprise.

After previously “struggling” to decide if he should delay the game to clean up its graphic content, Cawthon had this to say. “I’m going to release the ‘mature’ version of the game by itself, in sections, not as a part of the timeline, not as a part of the lore and not as a part of the story, but just because I promised that I would. I promised a game, and don’t want to be one of those developers who endlessly delays their game’s release.” He then advised that the “real” Sister Location would be fit for release “in a few months until I’m able to really make something that everyone can enjoy.”

This statement was preceded by lots of rambling about not wanting to release something he found personally offensive as this is a franchise he created himself. “I don’t feel like I can do the right thing anymore,” he moped.

It’s what followed this sad note that gets interesting. After outlining that the mature Sister Location would be made available in chapters, he posted its first demo on Game Jolt for free here. The conclusion was immediately clear. Following a Five Nights At Freddy’s: Sister Location title screen is a reskinned Freddy Fazbear version of Cawthon’s 2012 mobile game, Sit ‘N Survive. Players must sit in the wilderness and withstand attacks from various animals and hazardous weather conditions by managing stats. It’s clearly not a Five Nights At Freddy’s game and clearly a joke.

Shortly after posting the free demo, Cawthon added “the game’s not delayed, [and] see you Friday.”

As we said in our previous article about the delay, this type of tomfoolery is par for the course with Cawthon. Days before Five Nights At Freddy’s 3 went live, he famously posted a “leaked” version of the game that was also intended to be a joke. We expected it, and we were right.

Five Nights At Freddy’s: Sister Location will absolutely release as intended on Oct. 7.
