Archetype Entertainment announced that it is working on its debut title which is a sci-fi action-adventure RPG. Dubbed as EXODUS, it offers cinematic storytelling mixed in with deep emotional impact and features broad player agency along with modern AAA gameplay.

Archetype is a new studio founded by legendary RPG creator James Ohlen. Ohlen served as Lead Designer or Creative Director for titles like Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, and Star Wars: The Old Republic, to name a few.

A Herculean Task

In the game, humanity has fled a dying Earth. They have found a new home but it's located in a hostile galaxy and being the underdogs, now have to fight for survival. Players take on the role of The Traveler, considered as the last hope of humanity. Their job is to steal weapons and technology from the Celestials, the most powerful beings in the universe and the greatest enemy of humanity.

Time Dilation

There's just one catch and it's called as Time Dilation. That's because as players take on these interstellar missions, days for them are decades back home. The sacrifices made to protect one's loved ones result in creating unpredictable consequences which changes the world and reshapes the future.

Once players return home their face the consequences of their choices. In the game, the outcome of these choices manifests at a massive level and compound generations.

A New Sci-Fi World

Talking about the game, Co-Founder, Studio Head, and Executive Creative Director James Ohlen shared that the game introduces players to a new sci-fi world where they get to face the consequences of their choices over time. He added that the world they created comes with an incredible level of details and made possible by collaborating with award-winning sci-fi authors. Ohlen when on to say that the story and gameplay setting was built around the impact of Time Dilation, a concept that he has been fascinated with since he was 12.

Meanwhile, studio Co-Founder, General Manager and Executive Producer Chad Robertson said they've always dreaming of creating a game like this and excited to be able to finally make it.

EXODUS is currently in development and is planned to be released for the PC, PlayStation 5, and the Xbox Series X/S.
