The next expansion for Euro Truck Simulator 2, SCS Software’s game about driving very large trucks from one place to the next, has been announced by the Czech game studio. And our next stop on ETS2 ’s European tour should be exciting for anyone who loves fine art, pasta or soccer.
According to a press release distributed Friday, Euro Truck Simulator 2: Italia is the cargo-hauling simulator’s next big expansion, the next stop on a list of European destinations that includes Scandinavia, France and several Eastern European nations. Unfortunately, SCS Software doesn’t have much to say about the expansion yet. A short teaser for ETS2: Italia debuted this week; however, it’s entirely devoid of gameplay footage. We don’t have a timeline for the DLC’s debut (though the studio does expect it to drop in 2017), or a launch price for Euro Truck Simulator 2’s next big expansion. We also don’t know how much of the Italian countryside will be digitized.
All the studio is saying, for now, is that the country’s geography will force a higher concentration of locations and activities than we’ve seen in previous ETS2 add-ons. And they even managed to be pretty vague about that particular detail.
“Our map designers have fallen in love with the new region right from the research stages - there are so many diverse environments to combine! From tall mountains to the shores of the seas, from manicured farmland to wilder and more arid places, it was clear that we are looking at quite a challenging and demanding task,” the studio wrote. “We tried our best to depict the typical features of Italy from behind the wheel, like roads leading through the Apennines, where tunnels and bridges alternate with scenic vistas and curvy segments, opening the view to distant horizons. The geography and shape of Italy have also led to a relatively high concentration of cities and industries in the new DLC.”
Euro Truck Simulator 2 is currently available on PC. The game’s next expansion, ETS2: Italia, is expected to debut before the end of 2017.
