Fnatic vs VG in Upper Bracket Finals DreamHack

The Grand Finals of the Dota 2 DreamLeague Season 11 is just around the corner, and six teams are left fighting for a major share of the $1 million prize and 15,000 DPC points.

In the Upper Bracket, Fnatic will go against Vici Gaming to determine who gets the first spot in the Grand Finals. The losing team is guaranteed a third place finish, which brings with it $100,000 and 2,100 DPC points.

For Fnatic, the team's journey started in Group B, finishing second to PSG.LSD. In the first round of the Upper Bracket, Fnatic played in a best-of three against Virtus.pro. Fnatic swept the match, winning 2-0.

The second round saw Fnatic face off against Keen Gaming. In the first game, Fnatic's Pyo "MP" No-a's Juggernaut struck for first blood at the 2:35 minute mark against Hu "Kaka" Liangzhi's Lion. MP scored another kill on Kaka about one minute later. While KG took the initial lead in terms of Net Worth, Experience, and Even Gold Earned, the team had trouble finding an answer to MP's Juggernaut, as well as Daryl Koh "iceiceice" Pei Xiang and his Timbersaw.

KG attempted to get back in the second game with Zhai Jingkai on Outworld Devourer and Ren "eLeVeN" Angwei on Pangolier. Fnatic again featured MP's Juggernaut and iceiceice's Timbersaw. KG had trouble with MP's Juggernaut, but Abed Azel "Abed" Yusop's Puck determined many of the fight outcomes. KG eventually called GG and handed Fnatic the win.

For Vici Gaming, the team qualified for the tournament by winning the StarLadder ImbaTV Minor. VG was placed in Group D and finished second behind Evil Geniuses. In the first round of the Upper Bracket, the team was matched against top ranked Team Secret. Team Secret claimed victory in the first game, but VG fought back, taking the next two games to move to the next round.

VG then had to play against another top ranked team in PSG.LGD. PSG dominated the first game, with Wang "Ame" Chunyu's Phantom Assassin taking in 16 kills on one death. The second game featured VG going with Zeng "Ori" Jiaoyang on Razor at mid. Though PSG had a strong showing, the match went the way of VG, with Ori raking in 16 kills. While everyone expected a long and hard-faught third game, VG did not give PSG that oppurtunity. VG went for a Weaver on Zhang "Paparazi" Chengjun and Broodmother on Zhou "Yang" Haiyang. The game was done in under 30 minutes, with VG moving to the next round.

The Fnatic versus VG match is scheduled today at 11:30 AM EST.

Other matches scheduled are PSG vs. VP at 5:30 AM EST and Team Secret against Keen Gaming at 8:30 AM EST. The winners of these two matches will face off in the next round with the losers each getting $60,000 and 900 DPC points.

The DreamLeague Season 11 Grand Finals is a best-of five, and is scheduled for March 24 at 11:30 AM EST.
