Dota 2 BTS Pro Series Season 4 Starts December 8

A new season is almost here.
A new season is almost here. Beyond the Summit

Valve may no longer have plans for a Dota 2 tournament but that hasn’t stopped third-party organizers. Beyond the Summit is back again with BTS Pro Series Season 4.

It will happen in three regions and each offers a different prize pool. These are:

  • Americas
    • Prize Pool: $40,000
  • Europe/CIS
    • Prize Pool: $35,000
  • Southeast Asia
    • Prize Pool: $50,000

Today, we look at these regions and see what we can expect.

Overall Format

Each region has eight participating teams. For the Americas and Southeast Asia, the Group Stage is a single-round robin with all matches best of twos. The top four teams will advance to the Upper Bracket. While the bottom four will relegate to the Lower Bracket. Playoffs will have a double-elimination bracket. All matches in this bracket are best of threes. The Grand Finals is a best of five series.

The Europe/CIS regions follow a slightly different format. The Group Stage has two GSL groups. The top two teams from each group will move to the Playoffs. But the bottom two teams are out of the tourney.

Americas

For the Americas, the teams invited so far are:

  • 4 Zoomers
  • 4FUN
  • beastcoast
  • Thunder Predator
  • Team Brasil
  • Arkosh Gaming

In this region, Quincy Crew is doing well and appears holding the top spot. But is yet to receive an invitation. For invited teams, all eyes are likely on 4FUN. This is the team of Jacky "EternaLEnVy" Mao, who participated in previous tournaments for Team Zero. The team initially had a little trouble. But when things got sorted, they started to show good performance.

Southeast Asia

So far, these teams received an invitation:

  • Fnatic
  • Motivate.Trust Gaming
  • TCN Predator
  • Team Dog
  • T1
  • Neon Esports

This region is quite interesting. Motivate.Trust was on the rise and could clash with other teams. However, they faced a problem when one member decided to join Fnatic and another member went to T1. Read here.

While Motivate.Trust is yet to have a complete roster, they managed to find two stand-ins for this tournament.

Talking about Fnatic, this is going to be the first tournament for the new roster. It would indeed be interesting to see how they perform. Teams that still lack the five-person roster include TNC Predator and Team Dog. TNC recently released Park “March” Tae-won.

Team Dog is pretty amusing. One, there are only three members right now. And two, travel restrictions gave two members of Evil Geniuses a lot of time. So, they'll join this tournament for Team Dog. Guess who? They're Abed Azel “Abed” Yusop and Daryl Koh "iceiceice" Pei Xiang.

Europe/CIS

Currently, here are the invited teams:

  • Yellow Submarine
  • Vikin.gg
  • Live to Win
  • Brame

In the combined regions, we don’t expect the top teams to join since there’s another tournament happening. This could explain why the prize pool is relatively lower.

What are your thoughts on this? Who are you betting on to win?
