Destiny 2: Huge Stasis Nerfs Incoming in Hotfix 3.2.0.3

Season of the Splicer
Season of the Splicer Bungie

The first of Destiny 2’s “Dark” subclass, Stasis, was introduced back in the Beyond Light expansion. While many people love how powerful it is in PvE, it may be overpowered in PvP.

That said, Bungie has gathered community feedback and is releasing a patch next week to address the imbalances.

Although developers generally decided to implement the Stasis nerfs in Season 15, they think that it may be time to do it earlier. That is why Hotfix 3.2.0.3 will go live on June 3, Thursday next week.

Here are some of you can expect from that patch:

GENERAL STASIS NERFS

  • Reduced heavy-weapon, special-weapon, and light-ability bonus damage vs. frozen players by 5% (originally 50%)
  • Reduced duration of all non-Super freezes vs. players to just 1.35 seconds

STASIS SLOW

  • No longer suppresses air moves and class ability (Note: Stormcaller’s Ionic Blink is still subject to the slow effect. This will be addressed in the future)
  • No longer reduces weapon accuracy

COLDSNAP GRENADE

  • Now bounces off walls and detonates on the ground
  • Increased the arming duration before seeker spawns from 0.3 to 0.8 seconds
  • The detonation radius is reduced against players to 1.5 meters (originally 3 meters)
  • Seeker no longer tracks targets after the first target is acquired

TITAN BEHEMOTH

  • Shiver Strike now has reduced distance and flight speed. It also reduces knockback when used against other players
  • Cryoclasm’s cooldown is removed but now requires titans to spring for at least 1.25 seconds before activation when not in Super
  • Howl of the Storm now spans small crystals if performed into walls
  • Glacial Quake’s heavy slam and damage resistance have been reduced

HUNTER REVENANT

  • Withering Blade’s slow duration is reduced against players to 1.5 seconds (originally 2.5 seconds)
  • Winter’s Shroud reduced slow duration against players to just 1.5 seconds (originally 2.5 seconds)
  • Touch of Winter’s Coldsnap seeker no longer has increased travel distance or movement speed

WARLOCK SHADEBINDER

  • Penumbral Blast’s proximity detonation size and tracking against players have been reduced
  • Iceflare Bolt seekers now only chain once when spawned from a player shatter
  • Winter Wrath’s projectile tracking strength now ramps down from zero after two seconds of flight

The supposed Stasis subclass changes are good but keep in mind that the devs have only taken into account how the subclass was used in the Trials of Osiris, as opposed to regular Crucible matches. It is still good that they’ve changed things a bit with the hope of balancing Stasis to match others.
