"League of Legends" players experienced severe interruptions as servers were hit by extreme lag, high ping, and disconnections.
The long-standing issue meant that numerous games were ended in frustration, and players took to Reddit and X to call for explanations from Riot Games.
'LoL' Lag and High Ping Hit Players Hard
Reports poured into Reddit posts on r/leagueoflegends as users reported consistent disconnections and unreasonably huge ping spikes. A few players complained that while their teammates frequently disconnected, others had stable connections, producing odd, lopsided games.
One angry player complained that their team is full of disconnected members, but the opposing team is okay. Another "LoL" gamer said that they asked the enemy team about the ping spikes and learned that they were also experiencing the same problem in the ranked matches.
Some "League" players said that they went AFK after they experienced a ping spike and lag issues, prompting them to forfeit the game.
Riot Faces Backlash as Frustration Grows
On X, gamers complained about the delayed response. Piunika Web reported that one user named @RhyJadestorm begged Riot to "fix the game." Meanwhile, another gamer @beanut722, posted a clip of being fully stuck in the middle of a match, calling for LP rewards for losing rank as a result of the server.
Fix the game just had a game where 8/10 people had connection issues

To add insult to injury, moderators on the League subreddit allegedly deleted several posts about the issue, further infuriating the community. Screenshots that have been shared online reveal dozens of posts deleted with grievances, confirming how rampant the issue had grown.
Players Losing LP and Receiving Unfair Penalties
The lag problems didn't only destroy gameplay. They also deprived players of precious League Points. One player on Reddit lost more than 30 LP after failing to lock in a champion and then entering a game wherein only their team got disconnected, while the opponent was not affected.
Others accused others of unfairly getting penalized for being AFK when, in fact, they were victims of Riot's lagging servers.
"Same thing is happening on the LAN servers. We were all getting disconnected from our Arena/Brawl matches over and over and when trying to alt+f4 and rejoin to see if that could fix it we were getting a "cannot find the server" kind of error message while trying to reconnect."
Riot Finally Acknowledges the Problem
After several hours of player uproar, Riot Games finally updated the "League of Legends" server status page, affirming that they knew about the problem. The announcement read:
"We're aware of a problem causing players to disconnect from their games and are investigating the problem."
As of now, there's no official timeline for a fix. The community, however, continues to demand compensation for lost LP and a more transparent response from Riot.
