"Star Wars" has always been one of the most beloved franchises in the entertainment industry, and there are multiple projects that have recently been announced to expand its universe.
While not many details were revealed by the respective developers or teams behind these projects, ComicBook Gaming said that they are still worth getting excited about as they all lead to the expansion of the franchise.
'Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic'
"Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic" was unveiled during the recent The Game Awards showcase, and it is a spiritual successor of "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic."
Popularly referred to as "KOTOR," one of the biggest names attached to this development, Casey Hudson, who is the director of the original game, is leading the development of this new game.
Its teaser trailer was unveiled during The Game Awards and introduced fans to a new, unnamed character who is another Force user.
The game is set to be a new single-player RPG that will take users on an intense combat experience. It will reportedly give players the chance to choose their path.
That said, not much was confirmed behind the game, only that it is in early development and is under Arcanaut Studios instead of BioWare.
The game is expected to be years away from completion.
'Star Wars: Galactic Racer'
Another entry on the "Star Wars" franchise unveiled via the recent The Game Awards is "Star Wars: Galactic Racer," another action racing game set in the world of the iconic franchise.
This new take on a "Star Wars" racing game is being developed by Fuse Games, centering on a new character named Shade. Apart from the story mode, "Star Wars: Galactic Racer" will also deliver a multiplayer competitive mode that will have players build their podracers and fight against one another to dominate the leaderboard.
The trailer showed off the first location of the game, Jakku, the fictional desert planet in the franchise where Rey grew up.
While Rey was not featured in the trailer, a familiar face in the franchise was featured in the trailer, and it is Sebulba, the vicious Dug from "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace."
'Star Wars: Shadow of Maul'
Lastly, there is a new comic book miniseries launching next year called "Shadow of Maul," and it will explore the aftermath of Order 66, or the Jedi massacre. As the name suggests, it will heavily involve Darth Maul.
This five-issue comic, written by Benjamin Percy and featuring art by Madibek Musabeckov, will first release on March 4, 2026, and it will dive into a new story featuring the criminal haven, Janix, and later connect to the upcoming "Darth Maul" series streaming on Disney+.
