Behaviour Interactive is giving fans a new kind of horror with its new "Dead by Daylight" chapter, partnering with horror icon "Five Nights at Freddy's."
The new killer will be Springtrap, who will send chills down our spines in what looks to be one of the most haunting updates to date.
Springtrap Enters The Fog as a Playable Killer
For the first time in gaming, Springtrap is playable and debuts as the star Killer for the "Dead by Daylight: Five Nights at Freddy's" chapter. Considered to be one of the darkest antagonists across the FNAF franchise, Springtrap's introduction brings with it a gruesome combination of monitoring, chasing, and mental terror.
Eager with a giant pizza knife and a lethal fire axe, Springtrap's gameplay revolves around area control and jumpscare. His throw of the axe instills an AOE (Area of Effect) that puts Survivors in harm's way, while a direct throw plants the axe in a Survivor's back, making them pull it out or seek assistance. Springtrap also has the option to pull it out himself, instilling a scream-inducing jumpscare before pulling his victim onto the hook.
Security Office & Doors: A Timeless FNAF Spin
This didn't exclude FNAF's most iconic location, the Security Office. Upon choosing Springtrap, players have seven Security Doors spawned around the map. They act as teleportation points for Killers and Survivors alike, with the players going through the Office to travel instantly between areas.
However, if Springtrap catches a Survivor in the Office, there is a frightening grab-and-scare routine. According to Bloody Disgusting, survivors can also access security cameras overhead on either side of each door and use limited battery power to follow Springtrap. But watch out, as Springtrap can destroy cameras and doors by breaking them with his axe.
Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Map Brings Nostalgia and Nightmares
One of the chapter's highlights is the all-new Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Map, carefully reimagined in "Dead by Daylight's" creepy realm.
From the Kitchen and Dining Hall to the Arcade and Janitor Room, all corners of the map are saturated with FNAF nostalgia, including the animatronic band and spooky party decorations warped by the Entity's influence.
The map is filled with jump scares, secret easter eggs, and dark alleyways packed with tricks. If you think you can hide easily from Springtrap, you're wrong.
Springtrap Cosmetics and FNAF-Inspired Skins
To commemorate the chapter, Behaviour is launching a new Collection with special cosmetics. The highlight of the collection is the Yellow Rabbit Legendary Outfit for Springtrap, which is modeled after the Five Nights at Freddy's film. It contains Matthew Lillard's image and voice, which were recorded just for the game.
Other highlight skins are:
- Glitchtrap Legendary Outfit (from FNAF: Help Wanted)
- Very Rare Clown Springtrap
- Very Rare Toxic Springtrap
And, of course, all original Survivors will be able to wear a Freddy Fazbear's t-shirt, which makes this an absolute must-play experience for both "Dead by Daylight" and FNAF enthusiasts.
Springtrap will start scaring people on June 17 across several gaming platforms.
If you want a light-hearted version of "Dead by Daylight," you can try playing its dating sim version on Steam.
