Dead by Daylight Patch 5.1.0 is finally available on the live servers after being on the Public Test Build (PTB) for a few weeks.

Trickster Changes

The devs have focused their attention on improving Ji-Woon Hak, otherwise known as the “Trickster.” Although some changes were made to his Laceration mechanic, the notable changes were implemented in the latest update.

For one, the Trickster would start the game with only 44 knives. This is a noticeable decrease from his original 60 knives.

Further, his rate of fire has slightly decreased from 33% to 25%. This is after he achieves his maximum knife rate of fire bonus after throwing at least eight knives.

In terms of power, the Trickster’s maximum laceration has been reduced to six, though the laceration decay is much faster now, depleting the full meter in 15 seconds.

Survivor Visual Updates

Survivors have also received some love in this update in the form of visual changes. For instance, Dwight, Meg, Jake, and Claudette have all received updates to their original outfits.

David, Feng, Kate, Laurie, Nea, Quentin, and Tapp have received some new facial models and textures, making them look a bit more realistic than they were in previous versions.

Also, the devs have implemented some minor changes to the Survivor models to increase variety. These changes are based on the PTB community feedback.

Technical Updates

The patch adds some improvements to the technical side of things. Killers who attempt to grab Survivors, but the interaction is refused by the server for some reason, will automatically transition to an attack instead.

Also, the devs now put a higher priority on unhooking than Self-Care. If a Survivor gets hooked and injured in the process, the prompt to self-heal will no longer replace the unhooking interaction.
