The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark has released its Ghosts of Christmas Passed DLC. This is free and the first of three new bonus cases coming to the game. In this one, players get to rejoin Detective Francis McQueen and Officer Patrick Dooley to solve a truly unique holiday mystery.

In a press statement, writer Dave Mccabe revealed that this new DLC is something the team has long been thinking about since the release of the Buy Hard Christmas case. He went on to say that it has everything players want like characters, art, noises, and words.

The game is set in Twin Lakes, considered the 34th most haunted city in America. It’s a cursed city though not like “demons are present” cursed, but more of “losing your keys” cursed. It may not be much yet there’s no question it’s a nuisance. That means somebody has to deal with it.

This is where players come in as they join the Darkside Detective Francis McQueen to solve six chilling cases.

The game is actually a follow-up of The Darkside Detective, first released in 2017. It’s known mainly for its satirical nature and references to pop culture. Take the case names “Buy Hard" or “Don of the Dead” as examples. The game also gets inspiration from various movie genres like horror, science fiction, and even buddy cop.

In this new game, McQueen needs to save his sidekick Officer Patrick Dooley so that the duo can do what they do best, which is to investigate the strange and often paranormal happenings in the city.

Features of this point-and-click game include:

  • Six unique cases, the likes of which players have never seen before.
  • Uses both pointing and clicking technology
  • Music from composer Thomas O'Boyle.
  • Photo-Realistic Pixel Rendering.
  • One mail-in rebate per customer on exorcism services for hauntings resulting from play.
  • A brief recap of the events of The Darkside Detective for anyone who hasn't played it and doesn't want to.

The Darkside Detective: A Fumble in the Dark is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Stadia.
