Call Of Duty: WWII will host a Private Beta starting Aug. 25 on PS4, but according to Sledgehammer Co-Studio Head Michael Condrey, the early access period won’t have custom emblem support. Luckily, the feature is planned for the full game when it releases.

Condrey tweeted the news Tuesday morning, after a fan asked if the Emblem Editor will be available in WWII’s beta. “It will not,” he said, but added “it will be there on Nov. 3.” That, of course, is the game’s official release date across PS4, Xbox One and PC.

While having an Emblem Editor ready for a Call Of Duty game at launch may seem like a no-brainer to some series fans, it’s worth remembering that Infinity Ward took a long time to add the feature to Infinite Warfare. Despite the 2016 game releasing within the franchise’s traditional November slot, full emblem support wasn’t made available until March of this year. It was a subject of controversy at the time, and it looks like Sledgehammer intends to avoid that snafu this year.

Its inclusion seems especially important, given the ways Condrey has previously described WWII multiplayer as an experience focused on avatar individuality and expression. That mindset was the reason why female soldiers were added and swastikas were removed from online play. To make that messaging truly complete, players should be able to design their own emblems too.

As those following Condrey’s Twitter account closely will know, this is far from the first hint about Call Of Duty: WWII the man has dropped over the past few days. Most recently, we learned the PPSh-41 Soviet SMG will be in the beta, and that the Steady Aim perk won’t be in the 2017 title. Last weekend, Condrey also posted a work-in-progress image of the project's menu screen. It revealed franchise mainstays like ranked matches and teased a brand new option called Daily Mode. These small hints may not add up to much individually, but they’re solid sneak peeks for diehard fans.

Beyond one confirmed gun and a lack of custom emblem support, however, there’s still not much we know about the beta. Players will be able to experiment with each of the game’s five Divisions on a small selection of multiplayer maps. We’re unsure what those maps will be or the full roster of weapons they’ll allow, but June’s E3 demo may be a decent indicator.

Call Of Duty: WWII multiplayer intends to be a return to the game’s strategic boots-on-the-ground combat roots. For the first time in years, soldiers won’t be wall running or boosting their way to victory. With an emphasis on accuracy and historical realism, the experience hopes to offer a comparatively bare-bones arsenal with some modern movement techniques mixed in.

Call Of Duty: WWII enters Private Beta Aug. 25 on PS4 and on Xbox One the following weekend. The full game releases Nov. 3 for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
