If you haven't got any plans for the weekend, then here's some good news for you. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare released an update that introduces new maps and even a new game mode. This update also lets friends enjoy Multiplayer action through crossplay. The update went live at 1:00 PM EST.

New Game Mode

The new game mode is called Hardpoint. In this mode, teams need to secure a specific "hardpoint" on the map and then defend it from enemy incursions. However, it's not that simple as several times during the match, the hardpoint rotates to a different position. It's important to learn about each location so your team can come up with the needed strategy to hold the position.

When your team reaches and defends a hardpoint, your teams’ score increases. Note that if none of your team make it to the hardpoint, no points are gained. A point is earned for each second you or a team member, or even a group of teammates, is present within the hardpoint. Once your team reaches 250 points, you can claim the victory.

New Maps

Two maps are coming with this new update. The first is the Multiplayer map Shoot House. The Shoot House is a military training facility located in the deserts of Urzikstan.

This tight, three-lane map is excellent for close-quarter combat. The map is medium-sized, which makes it perfect for 6v6 combat. Teams can expect tight corners that allow for a run-and-gun style of gameplay. It also offers a number of sight lines for those who prefer medium-ranged engagements.

There's a chance that most gunfights are going to take place on the central intersection, since it offers a view from all four sides of the map. Teams also need to consider the hallway overpass that is in the middle of the map, since it lets players look down on the central action. There are also different military components and equipment that serve as location points.

The second map in the update is the Ground War map Krovnik Farmland. The map is set in what was once the idyllic rural farm land of Verdansk that has since been pock-marked with evidence of military conflict along with scars that are visible across this Ground War map designed for massive scale battles.

Unlike the previous maps of this size and scale, Krovnik Farmland offers a uniquely different atmosphere. Teams can fight epic and frenetic Domination matches across a vast and undulating rural landscape, which feature farmhouses, windmills, silos, and other agricultural scenery.

Developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision, this new update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare is just the first and more new content is set to arrive in the future.
