After a year since the last "Call of Duty" and "Gundam" crossover, Activision is back to announce another collaboration between the two IPs, but the catch is that it is meant to head to the mobile experience.
"Call of Duty: Mobile" is now getting its chance at partnering with the famed Japanese franchise, "Mobile Suit Gundam" as part of the upcoming Season 6 update of the game.
There is a lot in store in this latest collaboration with "Gundam," particularly with the confirmed arrival of the Freedom Gundam suit that was showcased in the trailer.
'Call of Duty: Mobile' x 'Gundam' Crossover Confirmed
Activision released a new trailer for the upcoming collaboration coming in the next season of the game, and it officially confirmed the arrival of the return of "Gundam" to the franchise.
The teaser did not reveal much regarding what the crossover would deliver to the game, with Activision's trailer failing to mention that it is for the Season 6 update.
You can watch the teaser below.
That being said, ComicBook Gaming reported that this collaboration is meant for the next season change of the game, which is currently in Season 5, with the "Gundam" theme expected to last all Season 6 long.
As of writing, only the ginormous Gundam suit showcased in the teaser trailer is confirmed to arrive in the action shooter's mobile game.
Other games in the franchise have also had their chance to bring "Gundam" to their respective experiences, with the crossover appearing last year in "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III" and "Warzone 2.0."
Season 6 Brings Freedom Gundam and More
The specific suit that appeared in the trailer is the "Freedom Gundam," which was taken from the "Mobile Suit Gundam" anime from the late 1970s and early 1980s.
Based on ComicBook Gaming's speculations, the trailer's tagline "Standing in the shadow of a titan" may not only refer to the gigantic size of the suit but also to the possible content coming to the game. This is reportedly a reference to the "Titan" faction from the "Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam" series, which is also known as the direct sequel to the original show.
Previous Gundam collaborations featured multiple bundles in the game. Last year's crossover saw three bundles featuring Operator Skins, weapon Blueprints, finishing moves, weapon stickers, decals, charms, and more.
Season 6 will go live this June 29 starting at 5 p.m. PT.
