As a developer, it is expected from Blizzard to create multiple games. Although known for keeping its lips tight when it comes to new projects, Blizzard's very own CEO, J. Allen Brack, revealed that players might see a new Overwatch game.

In an interview with Game Informer, Brack said that Overwatch is pretty much like any other franchise in Blizzard’s library. As such, it can always extend beyond the initial game into newer areas. The executive elaborated by mentioning that Warcraft initially existed as an RTS way before it became an MMO with World of Warcraft, not to mention its mobile version Hearthstone.

This type of narrative is something Blizzard is looking to do with the team-based first-person shooter game. "We've talked about how we've got more games in development than ever before. More games in development than in the entire history of the company," Brack said in the interview. "We also think that there are a lot of different types of games that can exist within the IPs that we have. If we think about the Overwatch IP for example, we think about the Overwatch IP as being extremely large and extremely all-encompassing. Overwatch, the game people experience today, is just being a very small part of what that IP could be."

Of course, Blizzard is known for being a studio that does not like the idea of just releasing every game it works on. A perfect example here is Warcraft Adventures, which was canceled before its official release. Brack said that most, if not all, of their franchises are capable of introducing different types of games, and each of them has the ability to provide “different types of experiences.”

Brack also revealed that they are currently working on brand-new franchises, something the company is not really fond of doing so often. Keep in mind that before Overwatch was released, the studio’s last new IP was Diablo – and that was about 18 years ago!

Blizzard’s upcoming big event is in November. As of this moment, there is no word on what the studio might show. Let’s hope it is a better event than the one with Diablo Immortal.
