One of the biggest names in independent video game publishing formally announced their lineup of games arriving at BitSummit 7 Spirits.

In the last BitSummit 7 announcement, we saw Nintendo and Sony PlayStation announce their lineup of titles for the event, followed shortly by Unties, Playism and Microsoft. This time, we have everyone’s favorite indie publisher, Devolver Digital, who boasts a good working reputation with BitSummit; the publisher is noted as one of its ‘Gold’ partners, along with Google Play, Cygames and DELiGHT Works Indies.

BitSummit 7 Spirits will be held this weekend, on June 1 and June 2, at the Kyoto International Exhibition Hall Miyako Messe. It will feature a ton of panels, including games exhibitions, discussions, and even musicians. Check out the full scheduling list here, which also has links to when and where you can watch the event if you can’t attend.

Let’s now take a look at Devolver Digital’s lineup and see what they have in store for Japan’s biggest independent video game event:

  • Enter the Gungeon – this one has staying power, as evidenced by the fact that it’s more than three years old. Rightfully so, as I am of the opinion that every roguelike fan should experience this game at least once in their life. The title was developed by Dodge Roll and features music from Doeseone, who’s also a key individual for the event. The game is available to play on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch and PC.
  • Gato Roboto – the self-confessed “meow-troidvania” title from doinksoft. You play as Kiki the cat in a black-and-white pixelated adventure filled with charm and wit. It just released yesterday for the Switch and PC, and currently it’s kicking my ass so hard I’m starting to think there’s more to the cat’s innocence than it seems. Either way, stay tuned for my review of the affair, set to arrive next week.
  • Metal Wolf Chaos XD – the weirdest title yet. It’s a remake of a FromSoftware game from an era before the developer transcended into Dark Souls, and is a hidden, underrated gem on the original Xbox. It’s set for release on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. Here’s hoping that they show off some of the game in a livestream.
  • The Messenger – a side-scrolling action platformer in the same vein as the classic Ninja Gaiden for the NES. It’s available to play on the Switch and the PC, and very recently finally got a port for the PlayStation 4.
  • My Friend Pedro – probably one of my most anticipated titles this year. Here’s hoping they show off new footage for it, and maybe even a release date as well. Scheduled to launch on the PC and Switch.
  • Pikuniku – a very colorful, yet really short, puzzle adventure game that released earlier this year for Linux, macOS, PC and Switch.
