Artifact Beta 2.0 October 9 Update Patch Notes: Balancing Changes, UI Tweaks, And More

Changes are here.
Changes are here. Valve

Artifact Beta 2.0 received a small, yet important, update on October 9. No new content was added, and the gameplay is still the same. However, some much-needed balancing changes are here.

Abaddon’s stats are changed to 2/8 from 3/6. Speaking of Abaddon, the Borrowed Time cooldown is reduced by one second, and self-damage caused by Abaddon’s Mist Coil is reduced from three to two. Claszureme Hourglass will now give you +2 Health point and Force Staff can no longer target rooted units.

You can read about all the changes made by the update below and on the official site.

Artifact Beta 2.0 October 9 Update Patch Notes

UI

  • Status effect identification on cards now have iconography.

Gameplay

  • Storm Spirit’s Overload lasts until end of round rather than until Storm spirit's next combat.
  • Abaddon’s stats changed from 3/6 -> 2/8
  • Abaddon’s Borrowed Time purges Abaddon and may be used when stunned or silenced. Cooldown reduced from 3 -> 2.
  • Abaddon’s Mist Coil self-damage reduced from 3 -> 2.
  • Corpse Horde is now an After Combat effect and will spread Zombies more sanely when there is a mix of new Zombies and old units to devour.
  • Claszureme Hourglass gives +2 Health.
  • No Hesitation and Raid can only be used if there is still a combat phase (i.e. there is only one combat phase per lane).
  • Axe’s Berserker’s Call, Keefe the Bold’s Stop Hittin’ Yourself, Shadow Fiend’s Requiem of Souls, Bristleback’s Quill Spray, and Nyctasha’s Guard must have valid targets to use.
  • Phase Boots and Rebel Decoy require that both units are not rooted.
  • Force Staff cannot target rooted units.

Card Text

  • Clarified text on Red Mist Pillager.
  • Attacking is now referred to as Striking, and glossary entries are updated to reflect that. In the combat phase, each unit strikes its combat target. Nyx Assassin's Vendetta ability now states that he strikes the unit he moves to, and cards like Relentless Pursuit and and Overpower now say the caster strikes rather than that it attacks. Triggers that occur on all types of battle damage (cleave, retaliate, etc) have their wording unchanged, but triggers that require a unit to strike (Legion Commander's Moment of Courage and Mjollnir) now specify that they trigger when the unit strikes.

Bug Fixes

  • Raid now correctly prevents the normal combat phase even when red heroes in the lane all die during triggered combat.
