Abriss Coming to Steam Early Access April 14

Build and destroy.
Build and destroy. Randwerk

The atmospheric physics-destruction game Abriss is coming to Steam Early Access this April 14. This follows more than two years of development and countless iterations. Developed by Randwerk, the game challenges players to destroy different kinds of structures.

In a statement, Randwerk revealed that to improve the quality of their games, they focused on having a good work-life balance, fair pay, and the value of a democratic studio. The goal of the game is to offer a relaxing experience without sacrificing the satisfaction of blowing things up.

Gameplay Mechanics

There are two basic mechanics with the first one being to Build. Players can choose from parts with different weights, forms, and functions to build a structure. After that, all that needs to be done is to Destroy.

Game Features

Features of the game include:

  • Complex Destruction System
    • Experience simulated statics, thousands of little particles of debris, and whole chunks of targets flying into the abyss, all with little to no framerate spikes.
  • Campaign
    • Enjoy five worlds with each having seven stages.
    • Each stage starts with a limited set of parts with players needing to find a way to use them to destroy all main target blocks.
    • Players can unlock new parts the further they progress with each world having its own special environmental mechanic.
    • There’s always the option to return to a stage and see if a higher percentage can be destroyed or do it in fewer moves.
  • Sandbox
    • Try new patterns of building stuff and play around with parts that haven’t been unlocked.
  • Photo Mode
    • Players can use a free camera and try to get the best composition.
    • Freeze or slow down the time and get the perfect shot of all the destruction.
    • Apply filters to give photos a different vibe.
  • Turnaround GIF Cam
    • Create perfectly looping turnarounds of the mayhem.
