A Flash and Supergirl crossover is planned for sometime next year, so why not Arrow and Legends ? So far, most of the Legends story arc has been in tune with what’s happening in The Flash- -Barry’s message from 2056 to Rip Hunter and The Dominators. But let’s not forget Citizen Steel was introduced by Arrow, and now that the Legion of Doom has officially formed some of Green Arrow’s worst enemies are again wreaking havoc. Oliver knows Malcolm Merlyn and Damien Darhk better than anyone and he may be able to help the Legends on their new mission: finding the Spear of Destiny.
Stephen Amell has warned fans many times this year there will be more crossovers than ever before, so here’s five reasons one of those many crossovers should be between Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow.
The Spectre
The location of Constantine, the Arrowverse’s resident dark arts expert, is unknown and Justice League Dark means a Matt Ryan cameo is probably off the table. But now would be a perfect time to introduce a new character who has strong ties to the Spear of Destiny in the comics: Spectre. He’s a member of the Justice Society too, which would fit perfect in the budding JSA storyline on Legends.
It’s also worth nothing Spectre has been rumored to appear on Arrow since last June when Arrow’s stunt director tweeted out “we’re back with a vengeance.” Fans immediately thought of the Spirit of Vengeance, aka Spectre, often times considered DC’s version of Ghost Rider. “Spectre of the Gun” is also the title of Season 5 episode 13, which could be a simple reference to the Star Trek episode of the same name, but could also be a nod to the character. And since it’s hard to have the Spear of Destiny without Spectre, it’s hard to believe the title isn’t a coincidence.
Legion of Doom
The chance for Oliver to square off against Merlyn again and come face to face with Darhk one last time would be a great measure of how far he’s come as a person. Every scene between John Barrowman-Stephen Amell is always better than the last. Their history and ‘frenemy’ relationship has always been one of the strongest arcs on Arrow.
Black Canary
Now that Laurel is back, the first thing Oliver should do is tell Sara. In true Oliver fashion, he’ll probably wait until he figures out how she’s actually alive again. One of them will have to crossover so Sara and Laurel can see each other again. There’s also the possibility that Black Canary could become a Legends character. Katie Cassidy signed a series regular deal across all four shows.
JSA
It’s time for Oliver to meet the JSA. After all, Arrow first introduced the character of Vixen. The version on Legends is an older one, but I think that would be a great way for Green Arrow to become acquainted with the new Arrowverse superhero group.
If Legends does actually introduce Spectre with the Spear of Destiny arc, it would be cool if the series paid tribute to Constantine's appearance on Arrow. Jim Corrigan, aka Spectre, was first introduced on NBC’s Constantine series. After Constantine was cancelled, Matt Ryan reprised his role, same costume and all, on Arrow. So if Legends is going to introduce Spectre, some kind of connection to John Constantine knowing Oliver would be the way to do it.
Oliver In Space
When Oliver brought Citizen Steel to the Waverider, he said time traveling wasn’t for him. But it was hysterical to see him out in space with the Legends during the Invasion! crossover. It brought out the lighter side of Oliver. Also seeing the new recruits, who were left out of the crossover, react to the Waverider and heroes like The Atom and Firestorm would be thoroughly entertaining.
Sara said it herself in the Invasion! crossover, she and Oliver are the characters that started it all. White Canary and Green Arrow together are just about the deadliest duo in the Arrowverse, so I think it’s about time they show the Legends how it’s done.
