Power Moons in Super Mario Odyssey are the new Stars, which means players need to collect as many as possible! Each Kingdom has a minimum number to collect in order to advance to the next one, but there are many more hidden throughout each level.

The Snow Kingdom requires players to find 10 Power Moons to advance. However, if players want to see everything the level has to offer, then they’ll need to be on the lookout for all 55 Power Moons. Many of these can only be found after completing the main story, so it’s best to come back once everything is wrapped up.

Minor spoilers below, so read at your own risk:

Power Moon Location #1 - The Icicle Barrier

Make it to Shiveria Town and walk down the hallway until you’re in a room with four doors leading away from a center room. Go in the first door on the right. Make it through the Icicle Cavern until you’re at the end. Stand in the three shadows here to knock down icicles, then ground pound them to create an opening. Drop down for a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #2 - The Ice Wall Barrier

Go to the center of Shiveria Town and enter the door in the back right corner. There are five moon shards here with Bitefrosts buried underground. Collect the shards by standing on the Bitefrosts, then jumping at the last second to avoid their attacks. Get the shards and a Power Moon shows up.

Power Moon Location #3 - The Gusty Barrier

From the center of Shiveria Town, enter the door on the front left. This one involves both platforming and capturing the Ty-Foo clouds. Once you reach the end, use the last Ty-Foo cloud to kill all the Spinies on the final platform. Once they’re all gone, a Power Moon will appear.

Power Moon Location #4 - The Snowy Mountain Barrier

It’s time for the last door. In Shiveria Town, enter the back left door to get to an area with a Broodal boss fight. When Rango takes off his hat, throw Cappy at it. Once you flip the hat over, jump on it to shoot into the air. Land on Rango to deal damage and earn this Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #5 - The Bound Bowl Grand Prix

Once you get Moons #1-4, the center of Shiveria Town opens up. Drop down and capture the Shiverian who doesn’t want to race in the Bound Bowl. As the Shiverian, talk to the race official to start. Win the race for this Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #6 - Entrance To Shiveria

Drop down the entrance into Shiveria Town, then turn away from the town to face a warp pipe. Go to the left of the pipe and wall jump to get this Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #7 - Behind Snowy Mountain

Go to the location of Moon #4. Ride two air gusts up, but don’t pull up the wooden stake for the third. Instead, look behind it for a weird segment of wall. Run through it, because it’s actually snow. Go around the corner and jump over the gap for this Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #8 - Shining In The Snow In Town

Get to the second floor of Shiveria Town by climbing the pole on the right side. Move along here and jump from pole to pole to get to the other side of the second floor. Clear out the snow in the corner and ground pound the glowing spot to get this Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #9 - Atop A Blustery Arch

Near Moon #3, capture a Ty-Foo to blow a block over and make a bridge. Blow down the block, then climb the arch you just made. At the top is a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #10 - Caught Hopping In The Snow!

Warp to the Odyssey, then jump off the cliff to the east. You’ll see a few big platforms jutting out from the ground. Look for the rabbit here, and catch it for a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #11 - The Shiverian Treasure Chest

Climb up to the second floor of Shiveria Town. Move along the path by clearing out all the snow, then go through a doorway to find a treasure chest. Throw Cappy to open the chest and get a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #12 - The Treasure In The Ice Wall

Go back to the location of Moon #2, and make it all the way to the end where you’d normally get the Power Moon. Instead of heading into the pipe, look for a horizontal crack in the ice above you. Use a Bitefrost to get up to the crack. Shimmy along it until you get to a room with a treasure chest containing a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #13 - Snow Kingdom Timer Challenge 1

Find the scarecrow along the edge of the icy water by the Corner Of The Freezing Sea warp flag. Throw Cappy at the scarecrow, then jump along the platforms to claim your Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #14 - Snow Kingdom Timer Challenge 2

Find this scarecrow under the Odyssey. Throw Cappy at it and two poles appear. Climb up them to claim this Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #15 - Moon Shards In The Snow

There are five moon shards in the main outdoor area of Snow Kingdom. To access them, it’s best to capture a Cheep Cheep, making it safe to swim around in the water for long periods of time.

One is on a shelf east of the Odyssey. Another is on an iceberg in the middle of the water. The third is underwater by coins in the northwest corner. You’ll find another shard by the updraft at the base of the Odyssey. The last is on a block of ice by a Ty-Foo.

Power Moon Location #16 - Taking Notes: Snow Path Dash

Find the treble clef in the northwest corner of the kingdom. Collect it to cause a string of notes to show up. First, run up the slope, then along the top of the slope, then down the slope to get this Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #17 - Fishing In The Glacier

Find Lakitu fishing over a small pond in the southeast corner of the map. Capture him, then go fishing in the pond. Look for shadows of fish and drop your line into the water. Wait until the controllers shake, then pull the line up for a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #18 - Ice-Dodging Goomba Stack

In the same room where you get Moon #1, capture a Goomba and make a stack of four Goombas. Cross the narrow bridge and trigger the icicle to fall, then use that as a stepping stone up to the Goomba stack button. Trigger this for a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #19 - Captain Toad Is Chilly!

There’s a hole in the wall that’s filled with snow near where you collect notes for Moon #16. Burst through the snow to find Captain Toad and another Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #20 - I’m Not Cold!

Put on the boxers, then talk to a Shiverian in Shiveria Town across from the Crazy Cap shop. He’ll give you a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #21 - Shopping In Shiveria

Buy the Power Moon from the Crazy Cap store in Shiveria Town.

Power Moon Location #22 - Walking On Ice!

Enter the room right next to the Corner Of The Freezing Sea warp flag. Talk to the Koopa and complete the line walking challenge for a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #23 - Snowline Circuit Class S

After you win the race for Moon #5, return for a harder race. Win again for another Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #24 - Dashing Over Cold Water!

Find this challenge room on an island to the west with little penguins on top. Enter and collect the Rocket Flower. Run on the water, collecting the other Rocket Flowers until you make it to the end of the course and earn a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #25 - Dashing Above And Beyond!

Complete the challenge for Moon #24, but keep running past the warp pipe up another cliff wall. There’s a Power Moon up here, too.

Power Moon Location #26 - Jump ‘N’ Swim In The Freezing Water

Drop down from the Odyssey and get to the far end of the arch. You’ll find a scarecrow here that opens a door when you throw Cappy at it. Go in and complete the platforming segment by swimming through the freezing water. Make sure you jump out every now and then to thaw off.

Power Moon Location #27 - Freezing Water Near The Ceiling

In the area where you get #26, don’t go down the long vertical shaft of water towards the exit immediately. Instead, jump on it and ride it up to red poles. Jump and swing along these until you get to a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #28 - Blowing And Sliding

Capture the Ty-Foo hanging out just above the water in the main area of Snow Kingdom. Go to the south to find a series of wood blocks you can blow out of the way to reveal a challenge door. Go in to find a sliding block puzzle. Blow the red block to the right, then back. Blow the green block to the left, then down, then right, then up to create a set of stairs. Climb up them for a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #29 - Moon Shards In The Cold Room

Put on the Snow Suit and Snow Hood then get to the second floor of Shiveria Town. Talk to the Shiverian guarding the door to get access to the Cold Room. Go through the 8-bit pipe here and collect the five moon shards for a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #30 - Slip Behind The Ice

In the same 2D section for Moon #29, look above a moon shard above a warp pipe to see a blank block. Above the block is a weird looking ice thingy. Jump up here to the level above you, and you’ll find a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #31 - Spinning Above The Clouds

Warp to the Above The Ice Well flag, then look up for a seed encased in ice. Take the seed to the planter and ride the beanstalk up. Move forward through this challenge room by bouncing on flowers and getting caught in updrafts. There’s a Power Moon waiting for you at the end.

Power Moon Location #32 - High-Altitude Spinning

In the same challenge area as #31, get to the final big updraft, then look behind you. You’ll see a flower you can bounce on all by itself away from everything else. Spin over to the flower and bounce up on it to get a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #33 - Secret Path To Shiveria!

The painting that warps you back to Snow Kingdom is located in either Bowser’s Kingdom or Mushroom Kingdom. If you chose to visit Snow Kingdom first after Metro Kingdom, it will be in Mushroom Kingdom. Go through the painting to get to this treasure chest and a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #34 - Found With Snow Kingdom Art

Find this Hint Art to the left of the entrance to Shiveria Town. It points to the Lost Kingdom, where there are two Tropical Wigglers around coin rings and a tree. Get to one of the roots of the tree and ground pound to find this Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #35 - Snow Kingdom Regular Cup

Find the Koopa on a shelf in the northwest corner of the map, above the treble clef from Moon #16. Race along the path faster than the Koopas to get this Power Moon.

Find the Shiverian by the race track with eyes on its head. Talk to the eyes for a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #37 - Peach In The Snow Kingdom

After defeating Bowser, look for Peach in Shiveria Town. Talk to her for a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #39 - Above The Freezing Fish Pond

Capture a Cheep Cheep and swim all the way to the east. Look for a small cave with a few coins and a Power Moon inside.

Go to the area where you collected Moons #3 and #9. Find the two Ty-Foos blowing a block back and forth. Climb on the block and time your jump right for this Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #42 - Forgotten In The Holding Room

Go to the location you captured the Shiverian to race for Moon #5. There are a ton of boxes here. Break them open to find a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #43 - It Popped Out Of The Ice

Capture the Ty-Foo flying close to the Odyssey. Float over to the Above The Ice Well flag, and pop out of the capture to land on the second-talled ice block. Ground pound up here for a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #44 - Deep In The Cold, Cold Water

Warp to the Corner Of The Freezing Sea flag, then look to the northwest for a circular area with nothing much in it. There’s a faint glow coming from the center, so ground pound at the bottom of the sea to dig up a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #45 - Water Pooling In The Crevasse

Go to the room where you got Moons #2 and #12. In the grid with Bitefrosts, look into the water for a glowing patch of land. Go ground pound it for a Power Moon.

Go to where you fought Rango and earned Moons #4 and #7. There’s a bump moving around up here, so throw Cappy at it for this Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #47 - Snow Kingdom Timer Challenge 3

Warp to the Corner Of The Freezing Sea flag, then climb up above the challenge door. You’ll see a Cheep Cheep swimming around a P-switch. Capture the Cheep Cheep, swim down and trigger the switch. Race forward and jump over the narrow snowy ground to get to the Power Moon in time.

Power Moon Location #48 - Stacked-Up Ice Climb

Go to the area where you got Moons #1 and #18. Create a stack of Goombas 10 high and get to the second floor. You’ll find a button to stand on up here that will give you a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #49 - I Met A Snow Cheep Cheep

Up by the Koopa racer in the northwest corner of the map, you’ll find a shelf with a pool of water on it. There’s also a Bonneter floating nearby. Capture a Cheep Cheep and jump it into the lower pool first, then jump up into the higher pool for a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #50 - Even More Walking On Ice!

Go back to the line challenge Koopa from Moon #22. Complete the Walking On Ice challenge again with a score of 90 or more for this Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #51 - Snow Kingdom Master Cup

It’s time to race again, so talk to the racing Koopa in the northwest corner of the map. Win the race for this Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #52 - Iceburn Circuit Class A

Enter the door behind where the Moon Rock was. There’s a new race course back here. It’s harder than last time, so press the + button to access a quick reset option if you need it. Win the race for a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #53 - Iceburn Circuit Class S

It’s the same race as #52, but with tougher opponents this time around. Win the race again for another Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #54 - Running The Flower Road

Warp to the Above The Ice Well flag then head towards the Corner Of The Freezing Sea flag to find a Moon Pipe. Go down it to enter a new challenge room. Throw Cappy on the scarecrow here to create vines for Mario to run along. Make it all the way to the end of the area for a Power Moon.

Power Moon Location #55 - Looking Back On The Flower Road

In the same area as Moon #54, complete the first two segments of the vine challenge. On the third one, when the Banzai Bills are getting fired at you, run down the left vine path until you pass the first cannon. Jump to the right path and run back behind the cannon for a Power Moon.

REVIEW SUMMARY
Super Mario Odyssey
10.0
Charming, Fun And The Best Game Of 2017
The Nintendo Switch title has slick controls, amazing visuals and a charm (there’s that word again) that I haven't come across before. The story is simple but supplemented with a large cast of new characters and worlds that expand the Mario Universe in a way that, hopefully, Nintendo can expand on for years to come. It’s accessible for younger players and challenging enough for veterans.
  • Visually pleasing
  • Great Story
  • Controls are amazing and uses Switch motion controls the best
  • Great new characters and environments
  • Could be more difficult
  • Camera angles can get annoying
