Akuma is Bringing the Pain to Street Fighter 6 on May 22

A legend is ready to return. Capcom

Capcom announced that none other than Akuma is excited to join the fight in Street Fighter 6. He'll be waiting for a challenge from enemies he deems worthy starting May 22.

Akuma was first introduced to the world back in Super Street Fighter II Turbo. He was both a playable character and a hidden boss. In this latest title, it seems that Akuma's thirst for strength has resulted in a rather maddening toll. He has carved figures of the hundreds of opponents he has defeated and placed them in the cave where he resides. Their silence has beckoned him to fall even deeper in his path of inner strife.

There are also some changes in terms of design. Akuma now has a more striking presence complete with gray hair. He now has more muscles which give him a truly memorable aesthetic. You can look forward to Akuma's Outfit 2, clearly inspired by his original look in Super Street Fighter II Turbo.

Meeting Akuma

Like with the rest of the Year 1 characters, you can have Akuma be your Master in World Tour. To find him, you'll need to head on over to Enma's Hollow. It's located on the island of Gokuento. Once there, you'll need to be careful since there's the possibility of being tormented by the effects of the Satsui no Hado. Anyway, once you increase your bond with Akuma, he'll teach you his demonic moves. After that you can then assign them to your avatar to be used in the World Tour travels or in Avatar Battles in the Battle Hub.

Balance Patch

Akuma arrives to Street Fighter 6 along with an update which introduces a major balance patch that's been mentioned before. More on this is going to be revealed closer to the release date.

By the way, when Akuma is officially added to the game, there's also going to be Outfit 3s available for Rashid, A.K.I., Ed, and Akuma. They'll be available for purchase but automatically accessible to those who have the Year 1 Ultimate Pass.

Since its launch back in June 2023, more than two million units of Street Fighter 6 have been sold. This latest addition to the iconic Street Fighter franchise offers unique fighting game innovations with new content. It's available for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and the PC through Steam.
