Microsoft has often mentioned its Optimized for Xbox Series X program. The program essentially means that the Xbox Series X will be powerful enough to enhance older games, making them look graphically better on the upcoming console. During the Xbox Series X games showcase, Microsoft revealed some games that will be part of this program. The list of games included the popular Forza and Gears series.

On Xbox Series X, Forza Horizon 4 will run at a stupendous 4K and 60 FPS. On Xbox One, however, you have to choose between Quality and Performance modes, depending on your preference. The performance mode allows you to enjoy smoother gameplay at the cost of visual fidelity. This won't be the case with Xbox Series X, as the console is powerful enough to allow gamers to have the best of both worlds. Additionally, Microsoft also mentioned that the game will load significantly faster on the Xbox Series X.

Gears Tactics, the popular RTS game based on the Gears universe, will also run at 4K and 60 FPS on the Xbox Series X. Gears Tactics has yet to release on Xbox One. The series being a console exclusive for a long time, Gears Tactics launched as a PC exclusive earlier this year.

Similarly, Gears 5 is also part of the Optimized for Xbox Series X program. The game is said to load significantly faster on the Xbox Series X, and comes with major visual overhauls, 4K resolution, and HDR support. Gears 5 is currently available on PC and Xbox One as well.

Sea of Theives will also be included in the program, with major improvements on the Xbox Series X. Microsoft or Rare has yet to say what improvements we can expect to see, but one can speculate that 4K and 60 FPS support will be a priority.

Lastly, Ori and the Will of the Wisps will also offer 4K and HDR support and 120 FPS. The game has had a difficult time on the Xbox One, so the Xbox Series X enhancements should impress fans.

These five games will be joining the existing Optimized for Xbox Series X lineup, which also includes (as of right now):

  • Assassin's Creed Valhalla
  • Bright Memory Infinite
  • Call of the Sea
  • Chorus
  • Destiny 2
  • Dirt 5
  • Madden NFL 21
  • Scarlet Nexus
  • Scorn
  • Second Extinction
  • The Ascent
  • Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2
  • Watch Dogs: Legion
  • Yakuza: Like a Dragon
