"WWE 2K25" will be almost one year old since its release in March 2025, but as early as now, "WWE 2K26" rumors are already everywhere.
Leaked reports indicate that the beloved wrestling game will introduce a lot of nostalgic and creative elements for the next installment. Fans can see their fan-favorite match types once again for the upcoming entry.
Classic Matches Return in 'WWE 2K26'
According to Mike Straw of Insider Gaming, leaked details indicate that WWE 2K26 will feature four key match types:
- I Quit and Inferno, last seen in WWE 2K14
- 3 Stages of Hell, previously locked in WWE 2K15's Showcase Mode
- Dumpster Match, a completely new addition
Dumpster Match
The Dumpster Match offers players a fresh, over-the-top way to compete, pushing in-game action to extreme new heights.
Intergender Matches, introduced in "WWE 2K25," are also set to return, now integrated into MyFACTION mode, expanding gameplay variety and strategy options.
The Island Mode Makes a Comeback
Fans of "WWE 2K25's" online-only The Island mode will be pleased to hear it's reportedly returning. Players will fight for control of the "Island of Relevancy" among three factions, following the dethroning of Roman Reigns as Tribal Chief.
According to Windows Central, fans can expect exclusive cosmetics and strategic online battles on top of dynamic faction-based gameplay.
Past microtransaction controversies may still affect some players, but the mode promises an immersive and competitive online experience. Of course, these are still rumors, and you should take them with a grain of salt. However, if they are true, not all players will appreciate some of the new features.
Moreover, it would also be better if 2K focuses on improving the moves and effects in some arenas. "WWE 2K" is a game of strategy and wits, but it won't hurt the game if it puts more attention into the aesthetics and cool gimmicks this time.
