New '3D Super Mario' Game Announcement Coming Soon, Says Report—What to Expect?

Switch 2's first '3D Super Mario' game may be unveiled soon.

Nintendo is reportedly close to announcing a new "3D Super Mario" game for the Nintendo Switch 2 console, and it will mark a special event in the company and console history as its first from the franchise.

New '3D Super Mario' Game Announcement Coming

ComicBook Gaming reported that Nintendo is already gearing up for an upcoming game reveal this month, and it will focus on a new "3D Super Mario" game.

According to the report, Nintendo may make its grand announcement of this new game come the annual celebration of "Mario Day," which is set on March 10. ComicBook Gaming argued that this new "3D Super Mario" game's unveiling during "MAR10 DAY" is "perfect" as Nintendo has a lot lined up for the franchise.

That being said, should Nintendo forego unveiling a new "3D Mario" game this March 10, a new game under the franchise is still inevitable this year as the Japanese gaming giant "rarely misses" releasing a "Mario" title for a console generation.

What to Expect From Switch 2's First 'Mario' Game?

According to the report, Nintendo's sequel to the 2023 animated movie, "The Super Mario Galaxy Movie," is coming to theaters on April 1 and is expected to be a "massive success." With that, a game tied to the franchise and the character is only ideal, one that will help drive up sales and pique interest.

It is important to note that this will also be the first "3D Super Mario" game to release on the Switch 2 console as Nintendo has yet to release a new title in the franchise for the current-gen console.

In terms of what to expect from this new "3D Mario" title, it is expected to follow the adventure RPG genre of the previous "Super Mario" games before it, but there are still no confirmations on what its story will deliver and which characters will be part of it.
