While it’s true WWE 2K17 will not have the recent WWE brand split automatically included, it will still be possible to recreate it yourself (and maybe even improve it by putting Cesaro on SmackDown Live) in your Universe Mode.

Thanks to a post on the WWE 2K17 site, we have a few simple steps to set up our own brand split, complete with new title belts and everything.

Setting Up A Brand Split In WWE 2K17

  1. The first step is to create a new save file for the Universe mode, this file will be the one with a brand split.

  2. In “My Universe” go to the “Superstars” tab. Highlight a wrestler and press triangle/Y. This will give you the option to select “Affiliated Shows.”

  3. Go through the roster, making each Superstar affiliated with the right show. For example, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins would be affiliated with Monday Night RAW, whereas Dean Ambrose and AJ Styles will be affiliated with SmackDown Live.

  4. Time to implement the custom championships. Once you get the belts either made or downloaded from someone else, go to “My Universe” then “Shows.” Choose RAW and swap the WWE Heavyweight Championship for the Universal Championship. You’ll want to go into SmackDown and get the new Tag belts and Women’s Championship in there as well.

    1. There was no mention of the ability to add the Cruiserweight Division, so we’ll have more info on that if we find anything out.

  5. If you want to go all out, you can even make custom PPVs to really mimic the recent changes in the WWE. To set up Backlash, or any other brand-specific PPV, go to an open Sunday on the Calendar in your My Universe mode. Press Y/Triangle to edit the date, and select which brand will be the host.

It will be possible to set up your WWE 2K17 game to be almost exactly like what we see on TV every week, or it’ll be possible to do something completely different. If you are like me, and aren’t so artistically inclined, be sure to check out the Community Creations section for the best belt and Superstar recreations to import into your own game.

So what do you think? Are you happy to know you can have your own brand split in WWE 2K17? Are you sad to know it isn’t included in the game automatically? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
