Insomniac Games has officially confirmed that "Marvel's Wolverine" will release on September 15, 2026, surprising fans with the announcement via social media and a six-second teaser clip.
The reveal comes after a long wait and heightened anticipation following the PlayStation State of Play, which did not include any Wolverine updates.
Wolverine's Long-Awaited Journey
Originally teased at The Game Awards 2021, "Marvel's Wolverine" has remained one of the most mysterious superhero projects, The Verge recalled.
Interest surged after a 2023 leak tied to a large-scale Insomniac hack and was reignited last year when a full trailer showcased brutal combat, intricate environments, and Wolverine's voice actor, Liam McIntyre, known for portraying JD Fenix in "Gears of War."
The PlayStation Blog described the game as a "global thriller," confirming appearances from iconic characters like Mystique and Omega Red, promising a story-driven, action-packed experience.
PlayStation 5 Exclusive Gameplay
Insomniac said that the game will be a PlayStation 5 exclusive, taking full advantage of the console's next-gen capabilities. Players can expect fluid combat mechanics, cinematic storytelling, and detailed environments, continuing Insomniac's successful partnership with Sony, seen in "Marvel's Spider-Man" and "Spider-Man: Miles Morales."
