It's always good to prepare. Blizzard

World of Warcraft is all set to release its Shadowlands expansion this month. That’s assuming, of course, that there are going to be no more hitches or delays. The expansion is going to be launched on November 23, which also happens to be the 16th anniversary of the original World of Warcraft release.

Even before the actual expansion is live, Blizzard had already revealed what’s going to arrive with the launch. There’s a pre-expansion, which should help everyone prepare for Shadowlands. Players can read more about that here. Today we learn more about a new feature known as Adventure.

Adventure is available for both new and veteran players and serves as a good introduction as newbies and veterans start their journey through the world. In this new feature, an expedition has gone missing and players have been asked to discover what happened. Like with any journey, players are going to find themselves part of the crew on a ship headed to the expedition's last known location. However, things take a turn for the worse when the crew makes landfall on Exile’s Reach.

On reaching the island, there’s going to be challenges that increase in difficulty as players work their way through the first 10 levels. Players will also be learning new skills and abilities.

Learning New Skills

Talking about learning new skills, Adventure has been developed to make sure that players get the needed skills to survive in Azeroth. As players journey in Exile’s Reach, they get to learn about the basics of how to play World of Warcraft. Players also get to learn some of the important mechanics for the class that they have chosen.

For example, Rouges get to learn how to properly use combo points. Meanwhile, Hunters learn how to team up with and even stable their pets. That’s just the tip of what’s being offered in this new feature.

That’s not all, as players also get to meet new allies that are more than willing to teach the abilities offered by the player's class. Monks, for instance, can meditate and get guidance in order to learn Touch of Death. Paladins encounter the ghost of a former paladin that can teach them about Divine Shield.

For New and Veteran Players

Veteran Players have a choice to opt out of the starting experience and instead immediately start at level 1. Once veteran players reach level 10, they can continue into Battle for Azeroth or talk with Chromie and decide which expansion they want to continue leveling before entering Shadowlands at level 50.

New Players to World of Warcraft begin their journey to Azeroth with starting experience. This should help the new players to learn more about how to play the game. Once they finish the adventure, they get to move into Battle for Azeroth and gain levels to reach level 50, the requirement to be part of Shadowlands.

New Chat Channel

Once players finish creating a new character, they are going to be added to a Newcomer Chat channel. Here, players can talk with other newbies, and even get advice from experienced players who can serve as guides. New players and guides can recognize each other in the chat channels through the icons on their characters’ head that only they can see. Once a player reaches level 20, they can still continue on their journey, but no longer has access to the Newcomer Chat.

For veteran players that are interested in serving as a guide for new players, simply go to Stormwind or Orgrimmar and then speak to the guide recruiter. Vets need to be able meet the following criteria:

  • Have an account in good standing
  • Reach level 50
  • Complete 3,000 quests
  • Earn at least two of these achievements:
    • Terrific Trio
    • Rival: Battle for Azeroth Season Four
    • Battle for Azeroth Keystone Conqueror: Season Four
    • The Waking Dream
    • We Have the Technology

If guides decide later on to want to leave the position, just speak to the guide recruiter again to sort things out.

So what do you think? Is this a good way to introduce new player to World of Warcraft? Are you excited to go on your own Adventure? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
