World of Warcraft is all set to release its Shadowlands expansion on October 27. However, before this big one arrives, there’s going to be a pre-expansion patch in order for everyone to help prepare and plan their adventures. There’s going to be some character boost changes and adjustments on levels and items. Today we take a look at some the changes coming with this pre-expansion patch.

The Shadowlands expansion is going to have some character-level conversions. In preparation, Character Boosts are set to change once this pre-expansion patch goes live. These are:

  • Level 120 Character Boosts are going to boost characters to level 50
  • Level 110 Character Boosts are going to boost characters to level 48

The pre-expansion patch is also going to make adjustments on levels, items, and stats. This should make reaching a new level feel more meaningful while at the same time make the leveling experience faster than ever. For example, characters who are Level 120 in Battle for Azeroth are going to become Level 50 once the Shadowlands content arrives. You can view the complete table here.

There’s also going to be a new starting experience know as Exile’s Reach. This is going to introduce players to the basics of playing World of Warcraft and their chosen class. For those new to the game, especially those who haven’t created or leveled a character, this is going to immediately begin their journey into Azeroth with starting experience. Once they reach level 10, they can then continue their journey through Battle for Azeroth and eventually into Shadowlands. Learn more about that here.

Veteran players, meanwhile, can choose to opt out of this experience and start at level 50 instead.

There’s also what’s known as Timewalking Campaigns. These are for players that have already experienced Battle for Azeroth and reached level 50 on at least one character and want to level any subsequent characters on a different expansion. This new content lets locations like Northrend or Pandaria scale to the level of the player. That way they can adventure from level 10 up to level 50 and experience stories from these areas at their originally intended pacing.
