A New Mexico woman was reportedly shot while playing Pokémon Go. Apparently, she stumbled upon a robbery with her boyfriend Friday night, officials stated.

21 year old Cayla Campos, was driving with her boyfriend near Bianchetti Park in Albuquerque just before midnight. She was playing Niantic’s hit mobile game when they both saw a crime unfolding.

Although Campos tried to veer away, the perpetrators were quick to fire a couple of shots into her vehicle. The bullets hit her, causing the vehicle to subsequently crash into a nearby house. Authorities later pronounced her dead at the University of New Mexico Hospital.

It was not immediately confirmed whether Campos' boyfriend was injured in the crash or shooting. He was not fully identified by officials, though. The woman's father wrote on Facebook that her daughter "was murdered in cold blood."

"Anyone that knew her knows we lost a very special person. You’ll never leave my mind baby! I don’t know how to live without you," Cayla's father, Carl Campos, said.

The 21-year-old's friend Cody Bell said in an interview that Campos "was just an amazing person.” She was Cody's closest friend, and it is devastating that “she is gone."

“Her and her boyfriend always make a loop around this park before they go home and play Pokémon Go because their apartment is literally right there,” Bell added.

Investigators revealed that a red car, which is believed to be a Ford Mustang, and a silver four-door sedan were seen in the robbery. Anyone who could provide more information on the incident, or pinpoint the suspects, is encouraged to contact the Albuquerque Police Department at 505-242-2677. Our condolences go out to the Campos family and anyone who was close with Cayla.
