The Winds of Change is Coming to Europa Universalis IV this May

The periods of the Renaissance, Reformation, and even Revolutions, saw ways of life being changed and traditional arrangements start to be abolished. You can experience all of this in the upcoming expansion titled as "Winds of Change." It comes out May 8 and adds more focus to some of the key regions of the world. It's also introducing a lot of new content.

American Nations

The major American nations of the Aztecs, Maya, and Inca are all getting significant updates. The Aztecs for example are getting a mechanic where they promote warfare and demand sacrifice. The Mayans meanwhile now have a new way to unite nations into one kingdom, Then there's the Incan royal authority. There's a lot of improvements and updates to be excited about.

By the way, these nations are also getting special content which allow an alternate-history invasion of the Old World.

Trading Nations

The Netherlands and Venice are set to have historical flavor expanded and these includes more detailed content when it comes to the:

  • creation and enlargement of the Dutch Republic
  • Glorious Revolution uniting the Dutch and British crowns
  • Venetian Council of Ten
  • glories of the Venetian Renaissance

Gunpowder Empires

Meanwhile, the declining Timurid Empire now has the option to either fully embrace Persian traditions or make the decision to return to its horse empire roots through a life of plunder. On the other hand the rising Mughal Empire offers new routes to unite all of India under its sway.

Also getting update are the Central Asian Horde nations which include unique flavor for the Tatar, Mongol and Moghul Khanates.

Central Europe

Heading to Central Europe, the countries of Austria, Hungary and Bohemia are getting revised trees. These include the possibility of Austria and Hungary forming a dual monarchy. Bohemia gets to expand Hussite Power in the heart of the Empire.

By the way, all three countries can tailor the HRE to their liking.

Other New Content

Aside from what's already been mentioned, other features of the new expansion are:

  • Major Formable European Nations
    • New alt-historical options and content for the formation of Germany and Italy.
  • Minor Orthodox Empires
    • Surrounded by enemies, the Black Sea kingdoms of Theodoro and Trebizond seek to thrive and expand.
    • It can potentially revive Orthodox fortunes in the region.
  • Hisn Kayfa and Hormuz/Oman
    • The minor nation Hisn Kayfa, heirs of the Ayyubid dynasty, and major Gulf trading powers of Hormuz and Oman get unique mission trees to dominate the Middle East.
