Episode 12 ended with the liars coming to the conclusion that Ezra may have killed Charlotte. Hanna, Emily and Spencer confront Aria about having gone missing from the Radley Hotel, where the four were staying, during the time frame that Charlotte was thrown from the church tower. Hanna, Emily and Spencer sneak into the security room at the Radley Hotel (which is run by Hanna’s mom Ashley), and discover the cameras have captured Aria leaving the hotel and meeting up with Ezra Fitz.

Aria explains that she met Ezra to get a draft of his next book, which she was tasked to retrieve from her boss. As we know, Aria is now a publisher, for the same company that published Ezra’s acclaimed first book. However, since the tragic death of his girlfriend, in Colombia, he has been unable to complete its sequel.

Aria tells her friends that she and Ezra saw Charlotte entering the church late at night as they looked for an open restaurant. Ezra was visibly angered at the sight of Charlotte and quickly sent Aria on her way in her car. She does not know what Ezra did after she left him, but she doesn’t believe that he went straight home as he said.

Spencer believes she may be inadvertently connected to Charlotte murder. She confesses to Caleb, her mother and her friends that she wrote a term paper in college that closely mirrors the events that lead to Charlotte’s death and that she’s concerned she could be tied to the murder. She also tells her friends that she happened to tell Ezra about the term paper and the murder. Aria, Spencer, Hanna and Emily then decide the must delete the security footage, which shows Aria leaving the Radley Hotel on the night of Charlotte’s murder in order to protect both Aria and Spencer.

In episode 13, the Rosewood P.D. is deep into investigating Charlotte’s murder and discovers that part of the Radley Hotel security footage is missing. Officer Lorenzo Calderon confronts Ashley about the development and tells her the police will need a list of names of staff and guests that the hotel the night of Charlotte’s murder.

The Liars begin to realize that they could easily be found out. Hanna suggests that Spencer alert her mother, Veronica, who is a lawyer. However, Spencer’s mom is busy with her Senate campaign. Spencer is already in the spotlight, with a journalist questioning her about her feelings toward Charlotte’s death.

Ezra continues to look suspicious as Aria meets him for drinks at the Radley and Ashley refuses to serve him alcohol. The episode promo also shows Ezra admitting he is not at all upset about Charlotte’s death.

Meanwhile, Spencer's sister, Melissa returns from London. There seems to be a flirtatious spark between Spencer and Hanna's ex, Caleb. Hanna confronts Spencer on whether she is interested in Caleb.

There may also be insight on what happened to Sara Harvey. The Liars find out that Sara has lost use of her hands, but currently no one knows how. However, Pretty Little Liars actress, Janel Parrish, may have spilled the beans, in a reply to a fan’s question on Twitter. Sara was supposedly electrocuted while attempting to detonate the bomb set to blow up Radley Sanitarium as the Liars dismantled the explosive. The tweet has since been deleted and has not been verified, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

However, Pretty Little Liars executive producer, I. Marlene King also told THR that Sara has a “thing” the same way Jenna’s blindness was a thing, and that the Liars feel responsible for her injuries.
