Warframe is going to have some big changes down the line. These include the addition of a new chapter in the lore and technological improvements that you will surely love.

The New War

Developer Digital Extremes just held the Tennocon Live 2021 event last Saturday. It has revealed quite several changes coming to Warframe in the future.

One of the things that you can be hopeful for is the coming of the New War expansion which, according to the devs, is the game’s biggest questline yet.

In the video below, it seems that you will be using three characters from the different warring factions to combat the Sentients. These artificial life forms that pose a threat to everyone involved, and an old enemy in the story.

The playable characters will be Grineer Soldier Kahl-175, Corpus Engineer Veso, and Dax Warrior Teshin. Maybe you’ve always wanted to play as Teshin before, especially since he just looks cool! This might just be your chance to fulfill that dream.

Crossplay and Cross-Save

Warframe is supported on multiple platforms. You can play the game on Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC. Because of the platform support, it is only fitting that the devs include support for crossplay, right? Well, that is actually included in the game’s roadmap. However, there's more to that.

It appears that the folks at Digital Extremes will also implement cross-save. This means that if you play on PC, for example, and you stop and play on your PS4 console later in the day, you can practically continue where you left off.

These features are still in active development, but it certainly is a great way for you to enjoy the game in more ways than one.

Nidus Prime and Caliban

Nidus is finally getting its Prime Version in the New War expansion. You are going to look at a much beefier version of Nidus with golden ornaments normally placed on Prime Warframes. Plus, there will be a new Warframe coming named Caliban.

Caliban is a warrior that was built using a combination of Warframe and Sentient parts. This frame is said to have an appetite for destruction and while its kit hasn’t been disclosed yet, its passive ability allows it to resist damage types after taking some hits.

Whether Caliban is primarily an offensive or defensive frame remains to be seen. It is worth pointing out that Caliban will not be released in the New War expansion, but will be added later in the year.

Mobile Support and Simultaneous Updates

Last but definitely not least, the developers have also revealed that the game will be supported on mobile devices in the future. This video shows you that the game can be played on a smartphone at a consistent and smooth frame rate.

Do remember that crossplay, cross-save, and mobile support are being developed. So it is unsure if the devs can implement them this year or the next.

The devs are also planning to release simultaneous updates across all platforms soon. This means that if you are a console main, for example, you won't be left behind when it comes to new content. You will get the same update as that of PC players once a new one launches.

So, that is pretty much everything the developers at Digital Extremes have divulged in Tennocon 2021. Which of the new features are you most excited about?
