The second major update for the roguelite RPG Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer's Legacy is now available. It introduces a lot of new magic and item effects. This is only available however for those who have Early Access to the game.

In a post, Game Director Joris Dormans said that this latest round of changes is aimed at improving the player experience. It does this by having players get more choices when it comes to how they build their characters. Dormans went on to say that with how the items are spread and the way they combine, the possibilities are truly big.

Here’s what players can expect with this new update:

  • 100 plus new magic sigil effects for well-made items.
  • Well-made items appear more often in the game and now include armors, all types of weapons, and a larger variety of wands and staves.
  • 80 plus individual positive and negative qualities for weapons, armor, jewelry, and gear. These qualities affect their use and value.
  • The starting gear of players now has positive and negative qualities and always includes one well-made item.
  • More traders appear in towns and they offer better goods.
  • Some traders offer services to repair or identify items.
  • NPCs drop items more often when players defeat them.
  • Fewer items are marked as legacy items.
  • Spirit pearls are used to recharge magic items that have charges.
  • More options are offered when players can learn a new skill.
  • Serpent Spheres
    • A new utility item that allows players to enter the Serpent Path from anywhere in the world.
  • Impalas
    • A new type of creature that can be found roaming plains.
  • The taskmaster in Haven always offers players to suggest an “other task.”

Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer's Legacy is a roguelite RPG with a table-top feel. Some of the key features include:

  • A Legacy System where the actions of past heroes can have an impact on those that follow in their footsteps.
  • Permadeath is present, meaning, when a hero dies, they stay dead. Players, however, can return to the world equipped with knowledge of what lies ahead. Players also have the option to start a completely new adventure.
  • The game offers generative storytelling or no premeditated script. The goal of all adventurers is the same, but their journeys come with a unique story and even different encounters.

The game is available on the Epic Games Store. Unexplored 2: The Wayfarer's Legacy is scheduled for launch in 2022.
