A new expansion for Tokyo 42, the isometric open-world shooter from SMAC Games, is out now on PC and consoles. The game’s new Smaceshi’s Castles DLC might be one of the largest expansions we’ve seen released so soon (less than six months) after a game’s debut. And Tokyo 42 is on sale this week to celebrate the release.

Smaceshi’s Castles, named in honor of the development studio (SMAC Games) and the famed Japanese game show Takeshi’s Castle (Most Extreme Elimination Challenge in the U.S.), is packed with an astounding amount of new content. Smaceshi’s Castles adds 90 new missions to the game, four weapons and the Bishop’s Itchington multiplayer map. Early Steam reviews suggest the new missions are comparable to the skill challenges seen in other games, each emphasizing a different mechanic or play style from Tokyo 42. The new missions are split into four categories: 35 combat scenarios, 25 parkour missions, 20 bike races and 10 stealth missions.

A new Tokyo 42 patch was also released this month. The update adds new difficulty settings to the game (Easy, Normal and Classic) to give fans more control over their T42 experience. And you can switch between them at-will. Rocket Launchers will now automatically fire towards the ground, making it easier to strike enemies at a distance, and players will also see kill markers for downed enemies. And the studio says a number of bug fixes were also bundled into the latest patch.
