Surviving the Aftermath announced that it’s now available on Steam Early Access. This post-apocalyptic survival colony builder is available for $24.99. There’s also a bit of good news for those who already own Surviving Mars. They can buy Surviving the Aftermath at a 10% discount.

Surviving the Aftermath was first launched into Early Access on the Epic Games Store, as well as Xbox Game Preview, during PDX CON back in October 2019. Since then, a number of major content updates have been added, which incorporated player feedback.

In a post, Surviving the Aftermath Game Director Lasse Liljedahl said that the biggest contributor to the game’s growth has been the community, especially during the year it has been in Early Access. He added that since the launch during PDX CON, they have “worked alongside our players to release 11 major content updates, each introducing new mechanics or features to the game.” Liljedahl went on to say that through Steam Early Access they can now “continue to co-develop the game alongside our players as we work together to build the best survival management game possible.”

Key features of Surviving the Aftermath include:

  • No Place Like Home
    • Build and manage a colony of survivors after a world-ending event.
    • Construct at least 61 unique buildings to handle everything from resource collection and farming to exploration and security.
  • Surviving Earth
    • Explore a world that features six different biomes, all filled with resources, wildlife, rival societies and more.
    • Each environment has different conditions that affect the colony’s survival.
  • Survival is my Specialty
    • Recruit over 80 unique Specialists, each with their own skills and motivations, in order to manage the colony’s resources and production.
  • Expect the Unexpected
    • Life in the aftermath requires players to make moral choices.
    • Players may not be able to control everything in their colony, but how they respond to situations and emergent events will shape the character of their new civilization.
  • Reputation Management
    • Each decision can have dire consequences on the survival of the colony.
    • The player’s reputation with other societies affects their ability to trade and can even affect their relationship with other leaders.
    • Take note that colonists have minds of their own and react to the choices of the player.
  • Defend the Gate
    • Players need to fortify their gates and protect their colony from rampaging animals and deadly bandits.
    • Enemies who breach the gate are going to pour into the colony, wreaking havoc on everything in their wake.

Surviving the Aftermath has recently released update 11, which adds quests involving players sending specialists out into the world beyond their colony to complete missions and earn rewards. Players need to make choices while completing quests, with each decision having an impact on the mission’s ending.

Surviving the Aftermath is set to officially launch in early 2021 on Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4.
