Surviving The Aftermath Now Available In Early Access

Early access for Surviving the Aftermath is now available on the Epic Games Store as well as Xbox Game Preview. Surviving the Aftermath serves as the next chapter in the Surviving series from Paradox Interactive. Players who are interesting to join the Early Access period can purchase the game at $19.99. Surviving the Aftermath is scheduled to be fully launched in late 2020.

In Surviving the Aftermath, players need to build and manage a colony of survivors after a world-ending event. Since the apocalypse, resources are scare. In order to survive players need to master complex systems to optimize production while also learning more about colony management to make sure that nothing is wasted. Players are going to construct buildings, manage colonists, and even adapt to natural disasters, among many other activities, in order to restore civilization.

However, Surviving the Aftermath isn't just about building colonies as players can go outside their zones to explore this new world filled with bandits, hazards, and more. Players have to recruit and send out team of specialists to both gather resources and learn more about the world.

General features of the game include:

  • No Place Like Home
    • Build and manage a colony of survivors after a world-ending event.
    • Construct more than 50 unique buildings that handle everything from resource collection and farming to exploration and security.
    • Don’t forget to construct the Gate in order for you to be able to go out into the savage world beyond your colony.
  • Surviving Earth
    • Explore a vast world that features six different biomes each having exploitable resources and bandits, among others.
    • Each environment brings different conditions that affect the colony's survival.
    • Watch out for natural disasters as they can put your survivors to the test.
  • Survival is my Specialty
    • Recruit more than 46 unique Specialists, each having their own skills and motivations.
    • Specialists can help manage your colony’s resources and production.
    • You can also send them beyond the Gate on scientific missions, scavenger runs, and to fight bandits.
  • Expect the Unexpected
    • Life in the aftermath requires you to make moral choices.
    • You may not be able to control everything in your colony, but how you respond to the different situations that come up is going to shape the character of your new civilization.
  • Mods
    • Surviving the Aftermath players can bring their own visions to life using Paradox Mods.

Paradox Interactive Lead Producer on Surviving the Aftermath, Nikhat Ali, said in a statement that all “[t]hroughout Surviving Mars’ development we learned the importance of listening to our community and their feedback helped elevate that game to new heights." With this game, she added that they hope to get players involved as early as possible and make sure that this is the game they want to play. Ali went on to say that Paradox has "an ambitious content schedule ahead of us that includes monthly updates where we will incorporate feedback from our players and we’re confident the team at Iceflake is the right team for the job.”

Meanwhile CEO and Lead Designer at Iceflake Studios, Lasse Liljedahl revealed that Surviving the Aftermath is the game that they've always wanted to make and when the plan was pitched to Paradox, "they recognized our passion and commitment to making this game the best survival colony builder it can be." He said further that they are more than "thrilled to finally share our dream project with the world and to have the support of one of the industry’s leading publishers.”

Future updates to the game are going to include diplomacy and combat options between colonies, along with expanded tech trees, endgame content, and more.
