Despite being banned by Epic Games, a "Fortnite" player named Sebastian Araujo still found a way to cheat. Now, he owes the company $175,000.

The fine is a result of a lawsuit filed by Epic last December, which Araujo reportedly ignored. This led to a default judgment in favor of Epic.

Araujo must now pay $168,550 for DMCA and Copyright Act violations and $6,971 in attorneys' fees.

How 'Fortnite' Player Was Able to Cheat

Epic Games first banned Araujo last year when it discovered that the player a direct memory access device during a tournament in order to circumvent anti-cheat measures placed in the game, according to a report by PC Gamer.

Despite the ban, Araujo went on to create three fake accounts in order to keep playing. The player likewise used a hardware spoofer.

From June to October 2024, Araujo's cheating allowed him to win $6,850 across at least 18 tournaments. Multiple cheating complaints were also made against him during this span of time.

Spared From Making a Public Apology

PC Gamer notes that the outcome of the case filed by Epic spared Araujo from making a public apology for his cheating.

Fellow "Fortnite" cheater Morgan "RepulseGod" Bamford wasn't as lucky when he was made to do a public apology early this year, which is undoubtedly a very humiliating experience.
