New X-Files episodes will air on beginning Jan. 24, 2016. Sure, it’s not quite an X-Files reboot, though everyone seems to be calling it a reboot, since this new X-Files still stars David Duchovny as Agent Fox Mulder and Gillian Anderson as Agent Dana Scully. Whatever the new X-Files ends up being, whether a slavish recreation of the original tone or a brand new spin on The X-Files, the six new X-Files episode premieres should kick off a supernatural 2016, as the human governments make their final preparations to reveal alien life to us all.

X-Files Reboot 2016 Premiere Date Announced

In case you haven’t been paying attention to your X-Files, the truth is out there. And for many people in UFO circles The X-Files is closer to reality than the world we imagine ourselves to live in.

In some ways UFO sightings are losing their power. Cheap quadcopters and omnipresent drones have made mysterious and maneuverable UFO objects in the sky all too likely to have terrestrial explanations. Couple that with the baffling dearth of good UFO footage, in an age where cameras are utterly ubiquitous, and you have all the makings of a conspiracy subcommunity existential crisis.

Much like apocalyptic predictions whose doomsdays have come and gone, people who believed in the imminent discovery of alien life find themselves in a post-UFO world. There were many possible inflection points, whether the failure of 2012 to herald a new age of aliens (as in The X-Files mythology) or the interminable wait for the Christian-inflected Project Blue Beam New World Order plot to finally begin.

Whatever the reasoning, the UFO community often senses a moment of crisis just around the corner. As belief in alien UFOs has become more untenable, many in the UFO circles have doubled down, convinced that an earth-shattering disclosure is imminent. This is the official position of MUFON, the Mutual UFO Network, whose director promised in 2014 that “disclosure is just around the corner.” While MUFON cites the advent of private industry, which will uncover the “structures on the moon” kept secret by our government, numerous other reasons have been given for why UFO disclosure is coming soon. Here’s just a few reasons from a recent UFO subreddit thread:

  • “We are on the cusp of potentially achieving warp drive.”

  • NASA scientists are preparing us for disclosure with all this exoplanet talk.

  • President Obama joked about aliens on Jimmy Kimmel.

But what does this have to do with premiere date of the X-Files reboot?

A big part of the UFO disclosure narrative is that the world governments are laying the PR groundwork for UFO disclosure. We are being prepped for the big reveal. An X-Files reboot bringing aliens and UFOs back into the popular consciousness would seem to be the best PR tactic yet.

When The X-Files reboot episodes begin airing on their Jan. 24 release date, expect to hear a lot more about UFOs and aliens. After that it’s up to you to decide whether The X-Files reboot is just a case of the media chasing trends or a concerted PR campaign to inaugurate a new age of alien and human relations.
