The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD ’s amiibo functionality has been confirmed by Nintendo. According to a video released by the game developer, the Wolf Link, Toon Link, Ganondorf, Zelda, Sheik, and regular Link amiibos will all have some sort of function, from refilling your hearts or arrows, to unlocking new dungeons or making the difficulty much harder.

The Wolf Link amiibo will open the new dungeon “The Cave of Shadows.” This is a new series of challenges where players must use Wolf Link’s and Midna’s abilities to advance further and further down. Once you win, you can tap the Wolf Link amiibo again to save the number of hearts you have at the finish line. Playing through again will let you compete against yourself to have more hearts at the end of the dungeon.

The Ganondorf amiibo is really interesting because it greatly ramps up the difficulty of Twilight Princess . Using this amiibo, players will take much more damage from each attack. The effect lasts until the player dies, and can then be reapplied if you want. It seems this is really aimed towards the Dark Souls fans who want crushing difficulty with their games.

The Toon Link and regular Link amiibos will replenish arrows when they are tapped to the game pad. Similarly, tapping the Zelda or Sheik amiibos to the game pad will refill the player’s hearts.

The video ends confirming that the Wolf Link amiibo will have some sort of functionality with the upcoming The Legend of Zelda Wii U . What the amiibo will actually do hasn’t been mentioned yet. Then again, just about everything is still a mystery regarding The Legend of Zelda Wii U (or whatever name it ends up getting), so it’s really no big surprise.

So what do you think? Are you excited to see all of the amiibo you can use with The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD ? Are you more excited for the upcoming The Legend of Zelda Wii U ? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
