Star Trek Online Invites You to Save the Old Ones in New Special Event

Time to save the galaxy again.
Time to save the galaxy again. Perfect World

Star Trek Online is launching its first-ever Halloween event which sees the return of the Old Ones. These beings were first introduced in the “Catspaw” episode of the Original Series. The event starts October 13 on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. Just a reminder, this is a special event and not part of an Event Campaign.

So who exactly are the Old Ones? These powerful extragalactic beings have traveled to the Milky Way to study various worlds and different life forms. By making use of a device called the Transmuter, they can perform truly amazing feats like illusions, teleportation, and mind control. The problem is that a group of Devidians have imprisoned the Old Ones and seized the Transmuter. Once the Devidians can learn how the device works, it’s going to spell trouble for the entire galaxy. It’s now up to the Captains to go to Castle Pyris and stop whatever the Devidians are planning.

Grand Prize

This new Halloween Event will last for three weeks and works as the First Contact Day event. It starts with a single activity which is then expanded over time. Captains who join the event and obtain 14 daily progress get to claim a Grand Prize, composed of two items.

The first is the Transmuter Wand Universal Kit Module. It has the Transmuter wand artifact which can transmute a target in a sentient black cat. This cat creates a Bad Luck Aura around its allies which disables Shields and most Powers when too close. In addition, the transformation is said to be so terrifying that the cat's former allies flee on sight.

The second is the Old One Vanity Pet. While a non-combat pet, it’s actually an Old One that has taken an interest in players for helping its people.

Other Rewards

In addition, the first character of the player’s account that claims the Grand Prize also gets 25,000 Dilithium Ore and three Featured Episode Reward Boxes.

Even after getting the Grand Prize, players can still play the event. However, they can only earn scaling Dilithium as a reward. It starts at 8,000 Dilithium Ore and then scales by 1,000 Dilithium Ore every day, up to 50,000 Dilithium Ore per day.

Like other events, Captains have the choice to buy the remaining progress with Zen. The price is prorated, based on the amount of progress completed.

Star Trek Online is an MMORPG set in the Star Trek universe and is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
