It has been a long time since we have received a new Serious Sam game, as the last major entry in the franchise was released almost a decade ago. Serious Sam 4, which is not called Planet Badass anymore, is only 10 days away. The game will only be available for PC and Stadia at launch, with PlayStation 4, and Xbox One versions releasing sometime in 2021. Although not officially confirmed, I would expect a next-gen port as well. Check out the official gameplay trailer below where Sam takes control of the ‘Popemobile’.
As Serious Sam 4 is this close to release, developer Croteam was kind enough to release the official system requirements, and to be honest, they are quite high. SS4 isn’t exactly the best looking game on the market. However, Croteam has previously promised that the game can support thousands of enemies on screen. So maybe that has something to do with the hardware requirements.
Now, onto the system requirements. Serious Sam 4 will only run on Windows 10 64-bit and will need 40GB of HDD space. If you want to run the game at 720p with 30FPS then you will need a four-core CPU paired with Nvidia GeForce 780 or an AMD Radeon 7950. DirectX 11 is supported and 8GB of RAM is also necessary.
These requirements feel reasonable now, don't they? Well, that’s going to change if you want to play Serious Sam 4 at a higher resolution with ultra-graphics settings. You will need an eight-core CPU paired with either an Nvidia GeForce 1080 or AMD Radeon Vega64. 16GB of RAM is a must, and DX12 and Vulkan support is highly recommended.
