Sea of Thieves Has Sold 5 Million Units on Steam

A big congrats!
A big congrats! Rare Ltd

It was back in October of this year when Sea of Thieves reached a new milestone by breaching the 25 million player mark. Looks like the game has another reason to celebrate as the year comes to a close. That's because the game has sold more than five million units on Steam.

In a statement, the development team at Rate Ltd revealed that the game was the first one developed in-house for PC and Xbox. The team added that they are happy to have seen a lot of new players join the game since it was released on Steam in June 2020.

Besides gaining new players, there's now a thriving community on Steam with more than 10,000 discussions and thousands asking others to sail with them. There are also more than 500 guides written by the community and almost 300,000 members on the official Discord server.

As part of reaching this new milestone, the entire community gets a special gift. Players who log in to Steam and play the game get the All Together Now! Emote for free. This offer is available until December 29.

To that, we say congratulations pirates!

Season Five

Early this month, Sea of Thieves launched Season 5. Like the previous seasons, it has 100 levels of rewards that everyone can receive for free. To get them, simply increase Renown by sailing the seas and tackling regularly rotating Trials and Deeds. There's also the Season Five Plunder Pass, which needs to be purchased separately to access premium rewards.

One of the highlights of the new season was a feature every pirate will love. Players can now bury almost any item and create a map that leads to it. This can be done for safekeeping. There is also the option to post it on the Quest Board to challenge other players in finding it.

Sea of Thieves is available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
