An interesting update.

Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin has reached a new milestone of more than 1 million copies sold worldwide. Since its release, the game has received critical acclaim and was in the top 10 JRPGs on Metacritic back in 2020. That number could be even higher with language support for Latin-American Spanish and Simplified Chinese.

Besides the new milestone, developer Edelweiss released an update that introduces a new feature to the game. Players can now hold a dog and a cat at the same time. Plus, the dog now runs out and greets players when they return home.

Now at Epic Games

Helping Sakuna: Of Rice and Ruin expand its worldwide reach is the new storefront: Epic Game Store. In celebration, along with the latest milestone, the game is being offered at 30% off. Aside from Epic Games Store, you can get the game on Steam as well.

The same discount is available for console players through the PlayStation Store for PlayStation 4 players and eShop for Nintendo Switch owners.

In a post, Kenji Hosoi of XSEED Games shared that they are indeed happy for players to have experienced the adventures of Princess Sakuna. He added that they hope to invite more people to play the game with the addition of support for new languages. Hosoi went on to say that players can also expect new ways to interact with their pets.

New Updates

In addition to the changes made for pets and the new languages, new content also arrived in the game. For example, players can process more than one food item at once. Other new things are:

  • Implemented some previously unused voice lines.
  • Added a UI element that shows when in-game time is paused.
  • Made changes to the porch animations in the latter half of the game.
  • Added option for monitors not in 16:9 aspect ratio to darken everything outside the game screen when playing in borderless mode.
