A new title in the SaGa series is now available for everyone to enjoy. Romancing SaGa -Minstrel Song- Remastered is out on PC through Steam, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, Android, and iOS.

The original game was released in 1992 but only in Japan. A remake was then launched in 2005 and was offered in both Japan and North America.

Longtime fans and new ones should be excited to know that this new version offers a lot of exciting new improvements and additions, such as remastered graphics, new gameplay features, and new quality-of-life changes for better playability.

There are eight protagonists in the game and players follow the exploits of each. Every protagonist has their own storyline and goal. In addition, players can create their own unique adventure through actions that affect the game world, thanks to the “Free Scenario” system.

Players can also look forward to seeing the “Glimmer” and “Combo” systems available from previous games. There are also beautifully illustrated designs and soundtrack by Composer Kenji Ito.

The SaGa series are revolutionary RPGs created by Akitoshi Kawazu, the same legendary game developer responsible for Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy II, and SaGa Frontier.

One of the games in the franchise was The Final Fantasy Legend released on Game Boy in 1990. Since this title was launched, the series has expanded with additional entries in numerous platforms. The SaGa series has also had regulars like illustrator Tomomi Kobayashi, who gave the series its very own unique style, and composer Kenji Ito of the Mana series.

While the SaGa series shares its roots with Final Fantasy, this franchise has always managed to incorporate revolutionary and challenging gameplay mechanics. These include player choice, branching storylines, and even characters with wildly different playstyles. These are the reasons that set it apart from the other JRPG series.

Other games in the series are Romancing SaGa 3, made available outside of Japan for the first time in November 2019, and SaGa Scarlet Grace: Ambitions, an enhanced version of SaGa Scarlet Grace, released worldwide in December 2019.
