PUBG Testing the Winter Race at the Labs

A new kind of race.
A new kind of race. Krafton

The team of PUBG: Battlegrounds are at it again. This time, they’re testing the Winter Race at Labs. It’s a different kind of race and is a good way to bring the heat for this cold season.

For this race, players need to choose a vehicle between speed and durability. Each vehicle comes with its own weapon and even a set of equipment. Available vehicles include the Motorbike, Pickup, Coupe RB, Quad, and Zima.

Now for every match, players race in a randomly selected racetrack from among these five:

  • Track 1: A straight line track starting from the starting line to the finishing line.
  • Track 2: A circular track requiring players to finish 2 laps to complete the race.
  • Track 3: A square track requiring players to finish 2 laps to complete the race.
  • Track 4: A track requiring players to return to the starting line to complete the race.
  • Track 5: A frozen straight line track starting from the starting line to the finishing line.

There are also Checkpoints that players need to drive through during races. Players who are off-track for too long are automatically respawned on their recent checkpoint.

Once everything is ready, then the race begins. Here are some details to keep in mind:

  • Every player spawns in their vehicles on the starting line.
  • Players won’t be able to move or attack other players until the race officially starts.
  • Players are invincible for 10 seconds at the very beginning and five seconds after each respawn. This is to prevent instant deaths.
  • Once the match starts just race forward. Players can choose to attack or avoid enemies.
  • The first player to successfully cross the finishing line wins the whole race for their squad. The entire race ends 60 seconds after the winner crosses the finishing line.

Grab Those Crates

Throughout races, there will be crates that players can pick up. These contain weapons, items, and even speed boosts. These crates respawn shortly after being collected. Check out some of the crates:

  • Ammo Crates: Blue ammo crates provide a specific amount of ammo for your equipped weapon.
  • Boost Crates: Red boost crates provide speed boosts and weapons for vehicles. To balance out vehicles’ speeds, motorbikes can’t use speed boosts.
  • Throwables Crates: Purple boost crates provide various throwables. Obtainable throwables:
    • Grenades
    • Smoke grenades
    • Sticky bombs
    • Spike traps
