A new update is coming soon to PUBG: Battlegrounds, which is set to change the gunplay meta. That's because there will be improvements coming to weapon attachments and firing from vehicles. They’ll arrive through Update 20.1, which also brings world and map updates and quality-of-life improvements.

Going back to the updates on the gunplay, here are what players can expect:

  • Weapon Attachments
    • It's been found out that Vertical Foregrip has been dominating battlegrounds as the choice of players when it comes to grip slot attachment.
    • The update is set to make changes to the:
      • Thumbgrip
      • Angled Foregrip
      • Halfgrip
      • Vertical Foregrip
      • Lightweight Grip
  • Firing from vehicles
    • Using vehicles to fight offers a lot of advantages.
    • Feedback has revealed that those on foot face a major disadvantage.
    • The update is going to reduce the one-sided engagements between vehicles and on-foot players.
  • Driver’s Seat
    • When the update goes live, players in the driver's seat have their handgun reload animation canceled, especially if they're controlling the steering wheel.
    • The reload duration of handguns is increased by about 50%.
    • The recoil is increased as well by approximately 20% (for PC users only).
  • Passenger Seats
    • Weapon recoil is increased to 20% for PC users.
  • Weapon Scopes
    • To combat the usefulness of full-automatic ARs, the 8x and 15x Scopes can now be attached to the M16A4 and Mk47 Mutant.
    • The 4x Scope also gets three extra reticle types for players to freely select and use their preferred type.

World and Map

One update coming is the addition of esports objects, in celebration of the PUBG Global Championship 2022. So, expect to see scattered across Erangel, Taego, and Miramar objects like flags, billboards, and building decorations.

A more important change would have to be the one for the Blue Zone, especially for the Deston map. It seems that compared to other maps, players are being eliminated more often in Deston. To address this issue, the radius rate and start delay is increased for the first phase. Meanwhile, the second phase of the Blue Zone has its radius increased, along with the damage magnifier per distance.

You can view the complete patch notes for Update 20.1 here. It's going live on PC on October 11 and consoles on October 19.

PUBG: Battlegrounds is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Stadia, Android, and iOS.
