Valve shared important information regarding its upcoming Steam Machine gaming platform, particularly what the company's requirements are to get the "Verified Games" status for titles coming to the store.
Valve Unveils Steam Machine Verified Games Requirements
Valve had a fruitful showcase during the Game Developers Conference (GDC) 2026 event as the company unveiled the requirements for titles in order for them to get the Verified status for the Steam Machine.
According to GameRant's report, Valve shared with developers that for their titles to get the "Verified" status for the Steam Machine, their games are required to maintain 30fps (frames per second) at 1080p video quality.
The report notes that Valve is not requiring developers to undergo testing of the display resolution or legibility.
It was also added in the report that Valve requires that the entirety of the games should be played exclusively using a controller despite it being a hybrid of a console and a PC.
Valve also announced that games that received a Verified for Steam Deck status will automatically receive the Verified for Steam Machine badge despite the hybrid device being six times more powerful than the handheld.
When Is the Valve Steam Machine Releasing?
Valve already announced the delay of the Steam Machine earlier this month as the company admitted that the hybrid gaming device cannot arrive in the first half of 2026.
That said, Valve claimed that they will still strive to launch the console in 2026, potentially at the latter part of the year.
Many factors have affected Valve's delay, with the infamous RAM shortage pushing back the Steam Machine's awaited return.
