Pokémon Sun and Moon is introducing a lot of new abilities and attacks that will change the way Pokémon trainers battle in Gen 7. A new attack was also revealed.

In the latest episode of Neko Mario in Japan -- via Serebii -- there was a segment on Alola Exeggutor which revealed the name and animation of a new attack, Dragon Hammer. Trainers may have seen Alola Exeggutor use the move before, which is just the Pokémon slamming down on the opponent, but we now have a name to go with it.

Check out the animation below from Joe Merrick of Serebii.

However, no details on what Dragon Hammer actually does were released, so it’s left to speculation what the Dragon-type attack can do.

There are two already existing attacks that come to mind when trying to figure out Dragon Hammer’s effects, Wood Hammer and Draco Meteor. Original Exeggutor learns Wood Hammer, which is a physical Grass-type attack with a base power of 120. The Pokémon using Wood Hammer suffers recoil damage, however.

Since the GIF doesn’t show Alola Exeggutor receiving recoil damage we don’t believe it’s similar to Wood Hammer.

Draco Meteor is a Dragon-type attack with a base power of 130 and is a Special Attack. The user then loses two stages to their Special Attack stat. Perhaps Dragon Hammer is the physical version of Draco Meteor.

Sun and Moon already has created a physical version of a special move when it introduced Solar Blade to counter Solar Beam so Dragon Hammer could be the same power as Draco Meteor but instead of lowering the Special Attack it lowers the Attack stat.

But until the official stats are given this is all speculation but what do you think of Dragon Hammer? What do you hope its effects are? Sound off with your thoughts in the comments section below.
