Pokémon GO Launching Special Celebration for Trainers in India

The Festival of Colors, also known as Holi, is celebrated in India every March, and this year, it’s going to be on March 29. To commemorate this event, Pokémon GO is holding a special event for Trainers in India.

The game is having its very own Holi festival starting March 28. Before this in-game event, Trainers can get two new T-shirt avatar items for free on March 26.

Festival of Colors

For this event, Pokémon that represented the different colors of the festival are going to be attracted more frequently to Incense. These include:

  • Bulbasaur
  • Pikachu
  • Jigglypuff
  • Alolan Grimer
  • Seel
  • Marill
  • Sunkern
  • Murkrow
  • Slugma
  • Aron
  • Trapinch
  • Drifloon

There are also Timed Research tasks during the event, and when completed, hand out these rewards:

  • Balls
    • Poké Balls
    • Great Balls
    • Ultra Balls
  • Berries
    • Razz Berries
    • Pinap Berries
    • Nanab Berries
    • Golden Razz Berry
    • Silver Pinap Berry
  • Items
    • Dragon Scale
    • Sun Stone
    • Sinnoh Stone
  • Mega Energy for these Pokémon:
    • Venusaur
    • Charizard
    • Blastoise
    • Beedrill
    • Pidgeot
    • Gengar
    • Ampharos
  • Other items like:
    • Hyper Potions
    • Super Incubator
    • Premium Battle Pass
    • An encounter with Alolan Muk

Trainers can go to the in-game shop as well and get these two event boxes:

  • A 100 PokéCoin box that contains:
    • 30 Poké Balls
    • Lucky Egg
    • 10 Pinap Berries
  • A free box containing three Incense.

India Wayfarer Challenge

Before the Festival of Colors event, Trainers in India can join the India Wayfarer Challenge, which starts March 16 and ends March 26. For this challenge, Trainers simply need to review Wayspot nominations in India. They can then unlock various tiers of rewards based on how many Wayspots they approved. The rewards are:

  • Tier 1 Rewards: 3,000+ new Wayspots approved
    • Smeargle appears more often in snapshots.
    • Participating Trainers get access to a free bundle in the shop with 20 Poké Balls.
  • Tier 2 Rewards: 5,000+ New Wayspots approved
    • Rewards from Tier 1.
    • Murkrow appears more often in the wild and those lucky enough may find a Shiny one.
    • Earn twice the XP for catching Pokémon.
  • Tier 3 Rewards: 8,000+ New Wayspots approved
    • Rewards from Tiers 1 and 2.
    • Earn three times the XP for catching Pokémon.
